A Martial Artist of Ranma's calibur was attuned to his surroundings at all time. Since coming to Nerima, Ranma's senses had only sharpened by all the "sneak" attacks and everything that happened to him. While his awareness of his surroundings was always "on," most of the information it provided him was ignored, since he never learned to properly intepret them. Danger was obvious, but the others, he was ignorant of, since Genma had belittled such "mystical" things.
Which was very unfortunate for Ranma...
Had Ranma been more in tune with his surroundings and those near him, he could have avoided many of the pitfalls that had plagued his life.
But as ignored as Ranma was, even he had begun to notice, several, small things out of place... Such as: Kasumi seemly spending more time near him, asking him his opinion what she should do, as well as, serving his food before either parent. Of course, in his naitivity, he missed the lustful looks, the thrusted, emphasized chest and poses, and the seductive voice Kasumi had been using each time he was around. At least, his conscious mind had... but not his senses.
Counter to proper belief, Ranma did have hormones. He, unlike his 'peers,' just did not allow them rule him. One of several lessons he had learned from Genma on what not to do. As well as the fact that most of his so-called fiancees's aggressiveness was a big turn-off for him.
But first and foremost, Kasumi was Ranma's only friend, in the true meaning of the word, in Nerima. And it was out of that friendship that Ranma had gotten her that book. A book that had apparently pleased her greatly as he has saw she had it with her most times.
Seemed simple to him, Kasumi was happy, then everyone was happy. So he was grealy puzzled why Akane was even angrier then normal, Nabiki was giving him funny looks... At least, the Fathers were normal... which wasn't saying much.
Ranma was in the kitchen, getting a 'snack,' when he noticed the book... even though it had only been several days or so, since he had given it to Kasumi, the book looked very worn and used. Out of curiosity, he picked it up, opened it to a random page, and read it.
While Ranma did not understand why the girl needed the young man in the story, he did feel that the young man was response for her, similiar to have a Sensei was for his student. Although, what subject this Master was teaching, he was not sure of.
The passages in the book, where the Master corrected his student, kasumi, and touched her... stayed with Ranma... and as the days went on, he bagan to notice that his Kasumi was acting more and more like the kasumi in the book... sometimes even seemly quoting phrases and actions when he was around... as if daring him to act up the sensei's parts...
But he knew that if he tried to do that, Akane would pound him... already, she was looking for excuses to do so. But he was not going to give a reason for that.
Even worse, he began to notice that Nabiki was starting to act a bit like Kasumi was...
Things were getting more stress by the day for Ranma.
