Exiled Jedi: Why Did We Risk This? [Episode 100135]

by Lionheart

Sylphiel was a very important Jedi, a master healer but with a very special gift. She could look into a person's heart without hardly trying and tell you whether they could be trusted or not. Only a Force user could block her, and she knew when she was being stopped.

The Empire only found her through extensive use of surveillance droids.

Sylphiel was a sweet spirit who could not be lied to, nor could she be deceived by a mind she was watching, and she could test a line of people as fast as they could run past her. In a few hours she could see the hearts of thousands of Imperial captives and say which could be asked nicely to change sides and would serve the Rebels faithfully and which ones got to go farm dirt.

The Empire had a lot of unwilling enemies serving as crew. Generous favoritism and harsh treatment of good men had turned many officers and old hands against them, and recruits conscripted with blasters to their heads weren't always very loyal.

With her taken from the pits of the Empire's Dungeon they could take all of their prisoners and captives to date and simply march them by her, directing one line to go back to the barbaric and forgotten colonies where they'd stay to live out their lives in peace, yet out of touch with their lost homes. The other line they could gently petition to put on a Rebel uniform, and if treated kindly were often just as loyal as volunteer recruits, sometimes more so.

This simplified all of their prisoner dealings, and they would no longer be punishing good men just because they'd taken ship with bad ones. More importantly still, she could check out all of their recruits enlisted normally, and cut down proportions of spies and other infiltrators by a vast extent.

There simply was no price that could be paid to equal this. Shutting down spies was priceless as most empires destroy resistance to their rule by crushing rebel groups using agents placed on the inside, or information passed on by them.

Yes, she was worth the risk of that fight. Two other Jedi had been rescued with her that had Shampoo joyously bouncing as she greeted her two childhood friends from her very own village. As much as she loved them, though, as much as she cared or would have grieved had she lost them, Sylphiel's abilities made hers the more important rescue. It was just luck they'd come along for the ride.

Now, thanks to Sylphiel's talents, they could go forth recruiting freed slaves and conscripts from Imperial crews without fear, simply removing the bad apples.
