Ranma, Akane, and Nabiki stopped on their way to school to view the construction going on just down the street from the Dojo. Someone had bought the old Yashida house and was in the process of completely renovating it. Already the foundations and exterior had been mostly completed and all that was left were some minor cosmetics changes to the outside and, from what they could see through the unfinished windows, the interior still had a lot of work left to be done.
Akane frowned at the building, "I don't like it."
Nabiki grinned, "I do. It has a very modern look. I can appreciate that."
Ranma just tilted his head back to stare at the large stone tower that extended up through the roof of the house. He could tell that neither of the other two noticed it, but he was used to seeing things that no one else could. He just knew better than mentioning them. Pop had beaten that into him early on. "I don't think it's quite as modern as you believe, Nabiki. We better get going if we're not going to be late for class."
From a window high atop the tower a solitary figure looked down on the trio of departing teens. It had noticed how the boy had been looking through the screens that kept the mundane from seeing that a wizard had taken up residence in their town. "So the boy has some talent. Interesting. If he is powerful enough I might have use for him." Making a note to find out everything he could about the boy later, the figure returned to setting up the wards that surrounded his Tower. Nerima would make a very good place for him to hide while he nursed his wounds. Very good indeed.
