For Kesina, life had been filled with responsibility and duty. She had grown up in a family which had impressed upon her the idea of self control and the need for thought before action. As she had been naturally calm and intellectual, that had not been too much of a problem, and she had learned well.
As such, she learned manners, respect and all the things that someone in her position would be expected to know. She learn to move amongst many levels of people, and had proven adept at conversing with any of them. Her skill in that regard had proven to be much appreciated, and she had found herself much appreciated for that ability.
But there was always constant change, and her life as it had been nearly destroyed in a war run by mages who had little care for those in between them and their end run. So she and her family had moved from that place in search of a home, and in the end had found Rangard.
Over the time since she had come there, she had seen the young Prince at least several times a month, and had been left with a favorable impression, even if she didn't really know him. Stories had abounded, but she knew to that tales tended to get embellished or mistaken, so she had tried not to be influenced by hearing that he was supposed to be some headstrong, yet courageous young man.
Upon meeting him during a party celebrating his birthday, something strange happened.
She found herself intruiged by him. Rather than the problematic humans she'd sometimes met, he was honesty, helpful and very kind. He tended to be innocent, and generous to her, and she could appreciate someone like that. Yet the most amazing thing was his dedication to do what he thought he should, and his completely open look at the world around him amazed her.
Through him she found a joy for life, and knew that he was someone that she would like to get to know better.
And now she was a bridal candidate. It was a far from distasteful situation, as no one could doubt the allure of marrying him. But to her, he needed someone more reserved to balance out his instinctual nature. Which for some reason she thought of herself doing.
Others might think her simply trying to keep a calm lid on things, but she found herself wondering that if he could balance her out as well.
