Minako Aino walked through the streets of Tokyo with a spring in her step. Yes, her latest try for romance had failed, but her optimism was unquenchable. She knew that somewhere out there was someone for her, and she'd find him one day.

"Necklace?" A voice called.

Blinking, Minako looked down at the middle-aged man sitting by an opened trunk, which was filled with jewelry. In his hands was a beautiful gold necklace.

"Ohh, that's beautiful!" She said as she walked forward and leaned down to look at it.

"Indeed. It is said that this necklace is a copy of another necklace that was once worn by Venus, the Goddess of Love." He said as he gently moved the necklace, letting the light play over it.

Minako blinked at that revelation, her mind drifting to her alternate identity. "Really. . ."

"Indeed, it is said that the original held the power of Love itself. Even a copy should go to someone as beautiful as you."

Blushing Mina glanced away. "Well. . ."

"Indeed, for you I will drop the price to. . . 7000 yen."

"EERK! I can't afford that!" Mina responded, straightening up and turning away.

"Wait wait! I can see your bargaining skill. I will come down to 5000 yen for you."

Mina turned back, looked at the Necklace, then glanced at her school bag. "I. . . I don't have that much. . . Could you come down to 3500? I'm pretty sure I've got that. . ." She asked as she dug into her bag.

The man looked at her, then sighed. "If only I were not such a lover of beauty!" He said as he extended his hand, trading the necklace for the money.

"Thank you!" Mina called as she opened the necklace, and sliding it around her neck, fumbling with her hands a moment before securing the clasp. Picking up her schoolbag she sprinted down the street.

Behind her, the vendor smiled, then faded from mortal eyesight.

"Well," the god commented to himself as he contemplated the money in his hand. "A little bargaining should ease concerns regarding the usual youma schemes."
