Ritsuko Akagi glanced towards the teacher and then away. This assignment was just plain silly, and she was anxious to get it over with. She began drinking more of her juice, it being the least noxious thing she'd been able to get.
"There," said Mrs Ayashi. "That's the new students."
Splursh! went the juice.
Ritsuko Akagi stared. Rei and Asuka?! What were they doing over there? Had they managed to beat her and get close to the target already?
Mrs Ayashi tsked. "You were asking about Ranma Saotome, and if the stories were true? Well, he's just gotten two more fiancees so there's proof."
"Hmmm," hmmmed Ritsuko, wiping her mouth and looking over the crowd. "That boy has an enormous spatula?"
"That boy is actually a crossdressing girl named Ukyo," said Mrs Ayashi. "Another fiancee. Akane's apparently not here today otherwise she'd be over there too. Ah, there's Ranma now."
Ritsuko Akagi glanced over at the boy leaping down from a window to land lightly on his feet.
Her heart stopped. Her mouth went dry. The world narrowed to a tiny focus.
She didn't realize that she'd been set up by Eros who had made an experimental arrow that mixed "Lust" "Agape" "Devotion" and "Desire" into an arrow and shot her with it. Which had been bad as he'd been aiming for someone else entirely.
She felt giddy and euphoric. She felt as if all her blood had suddenly carbonated. She felt as if she were a guitar string that had just been plucked.
With difficulty, Ritsuko Akagi got herself under control. Later. Later she would grab him and ravish him. Later.
Splash!
"He turned into a girl, that's real also?" Ritsuko asked, getting her mouth working again.
"Oh yes. Hot water turns him back, cold water and he's a she." Mrs Ayashi shook her head. "There's still debate on whether he should use the girl's locker room or the boy's among some of the faculty."
Ritsuko listened carefully and had to admit that part of this assignment wasn't looking bad at all. He was hardly the sort of boy she'd thought she'd ever swoon over, but there was something about him-her that had her all hot and bothered.
"Tell me again how you could get engaged again?!" Ukyo demanded in a tone of voice that was not at all pleased.
"I, that is, well," said Ranma, backing away from the spatula-wielder.
"I do not appreciate you threatening my fiance," said Rei quietly. "He has offered me his friendship at this point, and while the dynamics of such a relationship is something I am not familiar with - I am quite prepared to defend such."
"Speak Japanese why don'cha?" shot back Ukyo. "Besides, I was talking to Ranchan here!"
"HEY!" Asuka stood and made a fist gesture. "I got my own problems with wonder- I mean the icequeen here, but that don't mean you can go threatening our fiance for something that wasn't his fault!"
"SO WHO'S FAULT is..." Ukyo's voice trailed off. "His father?"
Rei looked up and nodded once.
"Grrrrrrrrrrrr."
"You know," said Sayuri to Yuka. "I've never seen Ukyo growling and grinding her teeth like that."
"Nice blue glow around her though," commented Yuka to Sayuri. "Maybe she's been taking lessons from Akane?"
"No, I think it must be something about martial artists locally," said Sayuri. "Must save them a lot on lightbulbs. You could read in bed like that."
Ukyo visibly got herself under control. "So what about you?"
Asuka flipped her hair back. "Actually. Soun Tendo sold the engagement between the Tendo family and the Saotome family for enough money to keep his dojo afloat several years back."
Ukyo blinked, shock derailing the anger. "You... but that would mean... then that..."
"MEOW! ME-OW MEOW MEOW!" said a cat as it fell out of a tree.
"C-c-c-c-cat!!!!!" said Ranma, knowing it was most likely Shampoo. Running into the building whether it was a normal cat or Shampoo seemed like a good idea.
"Then that would mean..." repeated Ukyo.
Ding dong ding dong. Dong dong ding dong. Bong. Bong. Bong. Bong.
"Time for classes to start," said Yuka, moving towards the entry.
"So this means that Akane was never really engaged to Ranma," said Sayuri, walking beside her friend.
"Well, that's one way to look at it," agreed Yuka. "Maybe we should see what's up with Akane after school.
"Hmmmmm," pondered Gosunkugi, thinking something similar but seeing himself as a sarariman and coming home to a happy home with Akane. However, as he had recently been reading about a sect of Tokyo Goths, he was picturing her with a lot of black leather and chains. spurt! faint!
Not noticing the boy passed out with a nosebleed, the remainder of the crowd entered the building. Many actually walked over him without consciously realizing it.
Except for a woozy cat (being stunned and not a real cat - she'd hit her head when she'd fallen) and a certain crossdressing girl still holding a big spatula and staring off in the distance. "T-that means..."
