Shampoo smiled warmly at Ranko, "No need to be afraid of Shampoo. Shampoo just want to be friends. Is good to make friends, yes?"
Ranko slowly nodded. The purple haired girl seemed nice but something was telling her to be careful. Aunt Nabiki also wasn't happy that Shampoo was here. She tightened her grip on her amulet, it always made her feel better when she was upset.
Shampoo noticed the death grip the girl had on something she was wearing around her neck. "What you have there? Is it a family treasure?"
"My daddy gave it to me," Ranko almost whispered.
Shampoo nodded solemnly, "That makes it very important then. You show your friend Shampoo your necklace?"
Nabiki had to give Shampoo credit as she watched Ranko ever so slowly open her hand. The Amazon could really turn on the charm when she felt like it. She just wished it was someone else here watching this little interaction going on. She tried to stay out of the problems in Ranma's life but with Ranma's change in behavior lately she couldn't just leave. 'I have to get Ranko away from Shampoo,' she thought.
Shampoo exulted as she saw Ranko slowly start to warm to her. Until she got a good look at the amulet around Ranko's neck, that is. 'The Hand of Lakshmi!?! But that should be safely locked away by Great-Grandmother. How could this girl have gotten one of the great treasures of the Amazons?' Shampoo knew her first duty was the retrieval of the amulet, even above winning her husband's favor. Still, this was just a little girl. She should be easily cowed into handing over the amulet. "Aiyah! That is Amazon treasure! You no should have it. You hand over to Shampoo now yes?"
Ranko immediately shrank down, hand closed protectively over it once again. "No," she replied, "It's mine. My Daddy gave it to me."
"You give to Shampoo now or else!" Shampoo reached down towards the girl's neck, intent on prying the amulet out of her hand. She wasn't prepared for the girl to spring into the air, vault off of her head forcing her face into the floor, and go running for the stairs. However, she wasn't the champion of her village for nothing and she immediately sprang to her feet knowing she could catch the girl before she made it up the stairs. Or at least she could have if Nabiki hadn't gotten in the way and tripped her, sending her back to the floor.
For her part Nabiki was very confused. Things had gone downhill so fast she couldn't even react to it and then an intense feeling of protectiveness for Ranko had swept over her. Before she even knew what she was doing she had stepped into Shampoo and sent her tumbling. Then the feelings had simply drained away. This left her badly shaken and she sat down on the floor in shock.
--------------------------------------------------
Shampoo tore after Ranko. She was not in a good mood anymore. She had just been humiliated, and by two non-warriors at that! While she wouldn't hurt her, that girl would have reason to be scared... Shampoo cursed her luck when she saw Ranko's form enter her husband's room. Still, she had a duty to perform. "You give that to Shampoo right AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
-------------------------------------------------
Ranma was just waking up with the sense of something being wrong when a frightened Ranko ran into the room yelling for her Daddy. When an angry and yelling Shampoo followed her in moments later he reacted on instinct, grabbing her in a throw and tossing her out the window. He also got in a few disabling strikes on her leg, just in case.
--------------------------------------------------
Shampoo landed badly when she hit the wall of the Tendo compound. Her leg wasn't working correctly. She pulled herself up on her good leg and looked up to see her husband standing in the remains of the broken window of his room, Ranko held safely in his arms. His words stopped her cold. "Just what the hell were you tryin' to do to my daughter, Shampoo?" She was suddenly very, very confused and she didn't like the way he was glaring at her, but duty was still duty.
"Little girl have ancient Amazon treasure. Is Shampoo's duty to get it back."
"She don't have anything of yours and if you ever try to do anything to her again, ever, it'll be the last thing you do. And the same goes for Mousse and the Old Ghoul as well."
Confusion was replaced by surprise which was followed by anger. "Airen should know better than to threaten Amazon womans. Hand over amulet and Shampoo not mention threat to Great-Grandmother."
"I already told ya that it ain't yours. Now get out of here before I have ta make ya leave."
Shampoo and Ranma glared at each other before Shampoo turned and hopped over the wall. She knew she wasn't a match for Ranma with two working legs, much less with only one. As she limped home her anger faded and was replaced with worry and concern. Something was seriously wrong with her husband. She had to report this to her Great-Grandmother as soon as possible.
Ranma watched Shampoo leave and slowly rubbed Ranko's back to calm her down. He walked downstairs and helped Nabiki into a seat. Ignoring her questions he turned to Kasumi and told her that he and Ranko were going over his Mom's for the night and that he probably wouldn't be at school tomorrow. He told the both of them that absolutely no one was to know where he went.
