Restart: Flashback (Part 2) (DARK) [Episode 102851]

"I wonder why Ucchan called us up and asked us to show up at the park?"

Rolling her eyes, Akane snorted. "Probably has something to do with yesterday."

Ranma nodded, leaning back against the bench in the park they were currently in as the two waited for Ukyo to show up. "Maybe. But ya know, I'm surprised she hasn't tried to kill us." Ukyo was his best friend after all.

"Do you think anyone in Nerima wants to get you angry at them?" The short haired girl asked seriously.

Ranma shrugged as he looked around the park for the chef. "Doesn't seem to stop people from trying to come after my head."

"Oh please, who's going to come after you?" Akane asked. She then blinked. "Stupid question." It seemed every martial artist and their grandparents wanted a piece of Ranma for one reason or another.

Ranma was about to say something, when he spotted Ukyo walking towards them, dressed in a pair of black sweats and a blue shirt. Amazingly, she didn't have her battle spatula with her. "Hey, Ucchan!" He called out in greeting.

"Hey, Ranchan!" She waved at him.

Akane stood up and waved her greeting to the chef. "Hi, Ukyo."

"So, uh, why'd you call us out here?" Ranma asked bluntly, hoping that she didn't come out here to kill them or something.

She smiled disarmingly. "Just came to talk about gettin' out of this engagement sugah." The chestnut haired girl smirked at their expressions of surprise. "I made up my mind yesterday. I had to think about what you said." Ukyo then looked at Akane. "Can I speak to Ranchan alone?" She held up a hand to forestall any arguement. "I promise not to try and kidnap him or anything like that."

Akane blinked. How'd Ukyo know she was going to protest that? Being stunned, she nodded lightly and watched, a little angry as Ukyo grabbed Ranma's right arm and dragged him away from her, deeper into the park. "Now what?" She asked, not expecting an answer.

She got one anyway...

(----)

"Woah, Ucchan, slow down!" Ranma was surprised at how fast his friend was dragging him into the park. "What's so important?"

Ukyo sighed and stopped after a few more feet. "Ranchan, I just didn't want Akane to hear us speak is all."

Ranma blinked and nodded. That wasn't too unreasonable. "Ooohkay..." He said slowly.

"Ranchan... It's my dad. He's so hell-bent on honor that I had to follow through with this." Ukyo said in a tired tone of voice.

Ranma nodded. He knew a thing or three about stupid parents that thought they knew what was best for their children. "I guess so."

Ukyo was about to say something more, when they heard a scream. The two looked and Ukyo paled as she watched, the world almost surreal, as Shampoo and Kodachi were attacking Akane near the busy street. "Shit! I didn't think they'd do that!"

Ranma wheeled on her. "What?!" She had told them about yesterday? "What do you mean?" He asked her, scared for Akane. Then shook off his shock and ran towards the fight. He never would have thought that those two would try to seriously kill someone. Shampoo would have said that she could kill someone, but he had figured that she had never truly killed anyone before.

"I told them about what happened, but I didn't think they'd actually do something." Ukyo explained as the two ran towards the scrap.

"Dammit! I trusted you not to tell!" Ranma cursed at her and picked up his speed, leaving Ukyo in the dust. The chef watched and shook her head as she ran faster. Even with as fast as Ranma was, he wouldn't make it to Akane for at least a few more moments.

And that was two moments too long in Ukyo's opinion.

(----)

A few moments before...

"Shampoo think Akane should prepare for trouble."

Akane's eyes widened and she spun around as Shampoo leaped out at her with a bonbourii raised. Gulping, she jumped back just as the ball hit the ground, causing it to break.

"Yes, and make it double." Came an articratic feminine voice, a moment before a ribbon lashed out and wrapped around Akane's leg, knocking her to the ground.

"OOF!" The youngest Tendo exclaimed as she fell on her duff. "What is this?" She asked, angry at the two who were attacking her.

"Shampoo just beat you up for taking Airen away!" The purple-tressed Amazon in the purple mini-dress exclaimed. "How pig-boy say it? Prepare to die!" She exclaimed and rushed forward, her weapon high into the air. Shampoo really wasn't going to kill Akane, after all, Ranma would kill her if she did that. Beating her up on the other hand, that was acceptable.

Akane rolled onto her feet and blinked as she felt cement under her hands. Looking around quickly, she realized that she had just exited the park and was right next to a busy street. 'Just great!' She mentally groused, and screamed in pain as Kodachi's ribbon lashed into her arm.

"Akane should watch for holes in defense." Shampoo idly commented and kicked Akane in the gut, causing her to double over and fly out into the street. "Ooops. Not supposed to happen." She said. Shaking her head, she jumped out into the middle of the street and pushed Akane towards the other side of the road before jumping there as well.

Kodachi frowned as Shampoo pushed Akane in the way of an oncoming bus. "You stupid... OOF!" She couldn't complete her sentence as she was pushed to the side harshly, causing her to fall as Ranma raced by her.

"AKANE!" He called out, desperately trying to get to her before the bus did.

Ukyo, Kodachi and Shampoo watched, in morbid fascination, as time seemed to slow while Ranma and the bus both aproached Akane, who was still doubled over from that kick that had knocked the air out of her.

Ranma's eyes widened. "NO!" He cried out, knowing that he wouldn't make it in time.

Less than one tenth of a second later, the bus, screetching as it tried to stop, slammed into Akane, sending her flying into a wall over forty feet away with a loud snapping sound.

"AKANE!" Ranma cried out, bouncing off the bus and jumping at her. "No. Don't die." He whispered to himself as he jumped from one car to the next. As soon as he got to her, he kneeled down by her and lifted her up to cradle her head. "Akane!" He shook her and got no responce. He smiled lightly. "Come on, don't do this. I know you're tougher than that." Still no responce, so he shook her some more. "Don't do this to me." His eyes widened as she still didn't respond, a trickle of blood coming out of her mouth.

"AKANE!!" Came the gut-wrentching and despair-filled voice of one Ranma Saotome as he held onto his fiancee as she passed on.
