For the most part, he was happy as could be.
His wife wasn't.
Oh, the elder Saotome male had raised her son well enough. Their boy was healthy, strong, intelligent and most importantly, manly. He had a good education, and had a really good job. With him being respectful, she had much to be proud of with him.
But she was missing one important thing that she thought would be essential to her son's future. If he didn't have one, then he would still be fine, but she wouldn't be satisfied. And since her husband had done so much to bring up their son, it only seemed proper that she take care of this very important detail.
Becuase her little boy needed a wife. As far as she was concerned, that was a logical step, as he was settled in, and so the time to be considering such things was now. Being his mother, it was up to her to set up such things, if only to give him the opportunity to meet proper young ladies. She wanted to make sure that he would be able to get engaged to a wonderful and nice girl who would make her happy.
And then they'd have children and she could spoil them rotten, which would be wonderful in her opinion.
So she was sitting at her table, pondering just who she could and should get to be a prospective love intrest for her boy. Then she could see if they would fit well together, and if they did, then she would have just what she'd been looking for.
She'd even gotten the places picked out. That was the easy part, as she knew the type of settings that would be good for what she wanted. Plus, she wanted to give off the right atmosphere so that the romance would bloom.
Perhaps a sweet and gentle child who would be a soft presence in his life would do. Or a strong girl would be able to stand strong with her son would be the one she should choose. Then again, perhaps someone in the middle could be the proper choice.
Whatever she chose, she knew that she had a duty to perform and she wasn't about to abandon it.
Making her lists, she pondered what she was planning long and hard, while:
