At the same moment, Ranma felt something. It was small, barely a pinprick in her recovered life force, but it was felt like a cancer. That pinprick would have eventually consumed her if something, a familiar presence he would have to give thanks to later, had not driven it out.
It was cold, dark and nameless as it bled away angrily from his beloved. He frowned at that and forced himself to memorize the unpleasant sensation that nameless aura produced. He would be on the watch out for it should it come again.
He barged into the room immediately.
"Phoenix!" Ranma said eagerly. "Is she?"
"Ranma," Kyoko said, starting to sit up until Kimuri motioned for her to stay lying down.
"She is fine," Kimuri said vaguely, trying to figure out what that...presence was that she had felt. It had been kind, resolute, and hopeful. "The poison has been erradicated from her body."
"I'm sorry to have worried you," Kyoko said.
"Good, she's alive," Kisada said, coming in behind them. "Your art is strong Asako-hime."
"Thank you Kisada-sama," Kimuri said, bowing. "But I do not..."
'And I bring further news that the assassin has been caught," Kisada said. "Your sister oversaw the event." He had to lay the credit on the Crab. "Perhaps we shall question her later."
"She'll attempt to kill herself," Kyoko said, Kisada nodded.
"Bayushi-hime," Kisada said. "I owe you my life, I shall offer you one boon in repayment. Ask anything within reason and it shall be yours."
Kyoko gasped at the offer and considered herself carefully.
"I ask only one thing," Kyoko said finally. "I would desire to be wed to your son, Hida Ranma." Kisada nodded, frowning in show, though it gave a thrill of fright to both Ranma and Kyoko. Would he really give that to one that was now no better than ronin.
"I would not see a Scorpion in the family," he started, drawing an angry glare from Ranma and a depressed one from Kyoko. Then he cracked a smile. "But then, you'd be a Crab in that circumstance...wouldn't you? Asako-hime, marry them..."
"Hai!" Kimuri said, leaning forward, and saying the proper prayers over the young, happily dazed, couple.
"Now, HIDA Kyoko," Kisada said. "Your daimyo commands that you get some rest while proper quarters are prepared for you and my son."
"As you desire my lord!" Kyoko said happily as Kisada stood up.
"I am ever in your debt Father," Ranma declared ecstatically as he embraced his new wife. She started to respond to that embrace when Kisada cleared his throat.
"Ranma, I'll not have you endangering my daughter simply because the two of you are too reckless to wait for her recovery to be more sure," he said. Kyoko and Ranma blushed and admitted to the wisdom of that. Then Kisada frowned and continued. "Besides...we have work to do. Asako-Hime will tell us when she thinks it is safe for you to attend to your...ahem...marital duties."
The blush deepened, Kisada gave a mental smirk, youngsters were quite easy, and fun, to toy with.
"I'll order you appropriate clothing immediately, Kyoko-chan," Kisada said indulgently, with an open smirk this time.
He was discussing kimonos of Crab blue, but let her think he was referring to those items it was rumored that the Scorpion women had designed to make the bedroom more...interesting.
