10 Rings (Sa,Mo,Me,Ma): Jupiter joins! [Episode 10489]

by Kestral

"Where is the handsome prince that rescued me?" The tall girl in the genie outfit clasped her hands and looked around, ready for the first sight of her new sempai.

"Uhm. Down here." Ranma was really getting tired of this aspect.

Jupiter's disappointment was clearly visible. "You're a kid?" (pomfff) Having adjusted her age to their own, Jupiter bowed. "Okay, ahem. You wear my ring upon your hand, your wish is my command."

Ranma nodded and let the girls get reacquainted and introduce Shampoo.

Cologne sought him out. "So what did you see in the Pit of Karak-dum?"

(crackle - boom)

Genma listened in as Ranma went over the basics of the encounter and the pit.

"The Fist Of The Sun God(dess)?" Cologne thought about it. "I think I read a scroll once that spoke of it. There was an ancient style said to be handed down by the gods themselves to mortal men. The Twilight or something like that. A style that specifically dealt with dualities and the cycle of the heavens. The school split into dark and light halves. There are a number of styles like that. Some impressive. Some not."

"Oh?" Genma looked longingly at the Pit.

"I suggest we camp well away from here." Cologne eyed the Pit uncertainly. "Spirits can be quite capricious. Those low hills are a couple of hours walk from here and can provide cover."

"We kicked that guy's butt, we can do it again," insisted Ranma.

"Student, here's another lesson for you. Never count on a villain to fight fairly or alone. The next time he reappears it will either be with allies, or it will be a surprise attack, or using some kind of trap. He now knows that he cannot stand against you by himself, and so will seek to stack the odds firmly in his favor before then." Cologne said calmly.

Ranma thought that made sense. That hadn't been that easy a fight anyway.

"So. Now you have: Mercury, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. If the pattern holds true, that means Venus, Uranus, and Neptune are yet to be found." Cologne considered what she knew about the planets and tried to find a pattern she could use to figure out the next location.

"What about Pluto?" Ranma asked.

"Pluto shouldn't even count as a planet, it's merely a large object in the Kuiper Belt of cometary material," was Cologne's comment.

Elsewhere, Pluto frowned. She never particularly cared for that argument.

Cologne frowned as her thinking was interrupted "Now what?"
