Of course, those who knew her soon learned to not mistake her as a nice being, despite whatever her expression showed.
Currently, a wrinkled, two foot tall, gnomish appearing old man knelt before Hild's desk. Hild was known for her exceedingly devious mind, and the being before her had been assigned a key role in a certain long term project of hers. Happosai, Demon of Perversion, 3rd Class, Limited, had come to report.
When the first generation of students in the art of Anything Goes had called their master a demon, they had no idea how truly right they were. Even the humble or idiotic can have an occasional insight worth listening to, and this was one their justifiably disdainful progeny would come to regret ignoring.
"Mistress, the boy has fought the Phoenix Saffron, as you commanded, and has returned victorious. He has completed the final test you proscribed. He is ready for whatever you have planned."
Hild smiled at Happosai's suppressed, barely noticeable tremble. She could very well see the effect she had on the diminutive troll-like being, but Happosai ruthlessly suppressed his desire to glomp. Hild was a very attractive woman, but Happosai had no desire to repeat the mistakes he had made the first time he had been summoned into her presence. Despite the image he cultivated, Happosai actually did have considerable self-control, in addition to his well hidden deviousness. It was one of the reasons she had chosen him for this mission.
"Good, very good. You have done well. I suppose it's time, then, that ..."
