What he was more concerned about was the fact that these girls needed names. As it was they had serial numbers and identified themselves as machines. While they knew the basics of how to act human, they cared little about social mores, like being nude in public, or personal identity. Once they were given names though, they would have something to base themselves on. It would also seperate them from the machines not only in their own minds, but in those of those around them. And even if they never managed to be anything but the organic robots that the Machine had turned them into, then at least their names would be a little victory.
As a scientist, he knew many words that he could come up with, but with nine girls, one group simply jumped out at him. It was only natural that it did so, and he admitted that it was better than nothing. Besides, it felt right for some reason he wasn't about to ponder.
So he began to name them after the planets of the solar system.
That blue haired girl could be Mercury, while the blonde with the bow in her hair might do as Venus. The one with the odd hair style would do as Earth as much as any of them, and something about the raven haired one seemed to be good as Mars. Uranus and Neptune were the short haired blonde and the sea-green haired girl, as Jupiter was the tall brunette. With the tanned one given the name of Pluto while the pale one was put as Saturn.
Each had the names set as their personal identies, and they accepted the change without any problems. It disturbed him on some level as he considered the ease with which he could shift their minds, but he knew that he couldn't dwell on that. They needed to have whatever he could do to help them, and he worked on it as best he could. He did what he could, and made certain that he covered all the bases.
