Webs: A Bit More Pleasant of a Wake Up Than the Goblin Intended [Episode 107189]

by Thrythlind

Peter could still feel his head pounding as he slowly returned to consciousness, his limbs feeling heavy. His vision of the sky above came through a dismal and thick veil of mist that only slowly parted as he came awake.

The cloud over his vision parted a moment and he caught sight of a flash of black and white hanging in the air. It moved suddenly and was covered in blue and red.

"Who?" Peter asked.

"A kindred spirit," a distorted voice answered as his senses finally righted themselves and he saw himself facing a female version of himself. Only his spider-sense remained fuzzy, giving that same feeling he'd had at the Kuno party.

"You're the other spider," Peter said wearily. "The one who helped me against the Goblin."

"And rescued you just now, Spider-Rose" the woman said, gesturing toward herself humbly. "Don't try to move, you're paralyzed, and I don't know the proper counteragent."

"What do you want?" Peter asked.

"Answers," Spider-Rose explained. "If you have them."

"What are you talking about?" Peter asked, starting to stand up.

"I don't think that speaking over this subject is a good idea while you're still recovering, and my heading is still ringing from the fight with the Goblin," the woman repeated. "But I desire to discuss what future consequences we might face as a price for our powers. I don't know how familiar you are with science, but mutations are rarely so wholly benevolent as this one seems to be."

Peter frowned under his mask at the reminder of that fact. The woman was right, it was something that had to be considered.

"Let's find some other time to discuss that, however," Spider-Rose said. "Sometime when there isn't a bomb-lobbing maniac around."

Peter lifted a hand to his forehead and sat up a little weakly.

"My," the woman said. "This Goblin's gasses last quite a while, but they wear out almost all at once. Interesting."

She stood up and Peter trailed her motion to the end of the building where she turned back to face him.

"We'll talk later," she said. "But at the moment I only wish for a nice long soak in my furo. Good evening, Spider-Man."

"Wait," Peter called out, trying to climb to his feet as the gas's effects wore out.

Unfortunately the woman was already gone.

"At least my head's finally clear," Peter grumbled.

Kodachi slipped herself slowly into the water, wincing as bruised flesh and bone touched the steaming water. The Goblin had been close to tearing her limb from limb, and only a bluff had spared her in the end.

Paralyzed arm or not, she doubted the Goblin would have had too much trouble with her after slamming her into that wall.

It was fortunate that she wouldn't be taking classes until next semester. There was little need to hide the injury, she could just lay up in her home until healed. Excepting, of course, when she go out as Spider-Rose.

"The man's a monster," she muttered wearily.
