“Yah, I’m back! Tenchi?! Did it work? I didn’t know what else to try and… You’re not Tenchi!”
Ranma was caught a bit off guard. Despite his hopes, he hadn’t really been expecting a genie to appear when he rubbed the lamp. At least he assumed she was a genie. She didn’t have the fearsome appearance some legends attributed to genies (although, except for the dark skin, she did somewhat resemble the one he had seen on television that one time…).
The object of his scrutiny was growing more agitated as she looked wildly around.

Mihoshi was confused. A few days ago, she and Kiyone had been doing some routine maintenance on their ship when she had found an antique lamp wedged among the exterior sensors. Neither she nor Kiyone had any idea how it had got there (though Kiyone was sure that somehow it was Mihoshi's fault). Kiyone had thought the antique lamp an eyesore, but Mihoshi knew that with a little cleaning and polishing, it would make an attractive addition to their apartment. Pleased with her find, she had taken it to Tenchi’s house to show it off.
What happened after they had arrived at the shrine was still somewhat of a blur to Mihoshi. There had been that strange man who had appeared from nowhere. Almost immediately Miss Washu had run in apparently excited about something. (That hadn’t been too strange. Miss Washu was always excited about something, at least she seemed to be every time Mihoshi went to her lab to find her.) Before Miss Washu could say anything, everyone else had come in to see what the fuss was about.
That was when things really got strange. Mihoshi still didn’t know what exactly had happened to cause it, but somehow a thoughtless wish of hers had been granted, the results of which had left a few people less than pleased. Luckily, the strange man had said he could fix it if that was what she wished. After she had agreed, she had found herself in some strange dimension. The first being she had met there had tried to inform her that she was now a slave of someone named Lampofllakash! Mihoshi wasn’t about to put up with that! Attempting to enslave a Galaxy Police Officer was a very serious crime! Mohoshi knew her duty. Informing the strange being that he was breaking Galactic law, she had tried to put him under arrest. Unfortunately, he had resisted arrest, and even called in some goons to attack her! Mihoshi had reluctantly drawn her blaster to defend herself, only to discover that it didn’t work. Desperate at being defenseless with such frightening beings after her, she had taken out her Cube and used it to try to come up with some weapon that would work. After more than a few tries, she had ended up with a dagger (well, it was a kitchen knife, but at least it was something). When she turned back to face her pursuers, however, they were nowhere to be seen.
(What Mihoshi didn’t know was that she was in the land of the Djinn. The first Djinn hadn’t been trying to enslave her, he had merely been tasked with the chore of explaining the situation to the new Slave of the Lamp. He had gotten a bit peeved when, instead of showing proper respect and listening to what he had to say, this uppity mortal had the nerve to attempt to arrest him! He had called over a few of his friends to properly intimidate the mortal, only to have her lead them on an improbable chase through the surrounding countryside. Still, it had been more annoying than anything else until she had taken out that cube. Whatever that thing was, its effects in of the land of Djinn were like nothing any of them had ever encountered before. Bizarre and random effects had started appearing all around the mortal. When the pursuing Djinn had been caught in one of the effects, well, they lost all interest in continuing the pursuit. It wasn’t that the effects were permanent, at least not for a Djinn, but reversing it promised to be difficult enough that none of them wanted to risk getting hit a second time. They had already made more than sufficient effort to fulfill their duty to the Lamp. Let the mortal continue in ignorance of her role.)

Mihoshi had spent the last few days whandering the strange land in an attempt to find her way home. Just now she had felt a pulling sensation, and now, much to her relief, she found herself back in Japan. But who was this strange person in front of her, and what happened to her friends? Oh, had he asked her a question?
