Great Will: The Millenium Fight [Episode 107272]

by Jamil Nate

Ranma sat alone on the Tendo house's porch, deep in thought. He had read and re-read his game deck's instruction booklet, trying to assess the situation.

Ranma sighed, looking at his fiancees and female acquaintances, transformed into cards of a western fantasy CCG. Why did these things always happen to him?

SHAMPOO THE AMAZON WARRIOR. Picture of an angry Shampoo in chainmail, wielding a longsword and a morningstar, covered with the blood of her enemies. Quote: "Shampoo no like this game!" Strength 17, Intelligence 10, Charisma 15. Fierce, Relentless, Not Very Subtle. Element: Rock.

If he had understood correctly, he was now a duelist and was automatically considered a participant in a tournament called the Millenium Fight. And it looked like his only hope of turning the girls back to normal was to win it.

KODACHI THE DRUID. Picture of a laughing Kodachi dressed in green clothes and animal hides, attacking with a plant whip. Quote: "HOHOHOHOHOHO!" Strength 10, Intelligence 15, Charisma 12. Haughty, Treacherous, Mostly Insane. Element: Plant.

Soon, other players would come after him, their own decks made of the persons closest to them, like himself. The losers' decks would be taken by the winners. What was that old saying already? Ah yes: "To the Victor go the spoils". Since the decks were limited in number and quality of cards, it was up to the players to keep updating their decks as the tournament went on with their new acquisitions.

NABIKI THE ROGUE. Picture of Nabiki in dark leathers, trying to lockpick a treasure chest, but not looking very happy. Quote: "You'll pay for this!" Strength 8, Intelligence 16, Charisma 14. Smart, Sneaky, Somewhat Manipulative. Element: Water.

To quote Highlander: In the End, there could be only One... There was mention of a Prize for the winner besides freeing the girls in his deck. Ranma had no clue what it could be since the instruction booklet was rather vague on that aspect.

UKYOU THE HUNTRESS. Picture of Ukyou in studded leather armor with a two-handed axe as well as a bow and arrows. Quote: "Ran-chan, you jackass!" Strength 14, Intelligence 13, Charisma 14. Cute, Loyal, A Little Obsessed. Element: Fire.

Little did Ranma know but his future opponents had something in common with him: a great number of girls/women in their life. Right at this moment, men like Mamoru Chiba, Negi Springfield, Tenchi Masaki and others had found themselves in the same situation.

None of the participants had a choice if they wanted their girls back. Soon the Millenium Fight would start.

*****

Besides the obvious mystical side of it, the Millenium Fight wasn't an average game tournament. The Gods themselves had created it at the Dawn of Time for a purpose.

The Prize was something nobody would likely expect, for it was dictating Humanity's evolution for the next thousand years!

For example, should Ranma win the Millenium Fight, this would start a martial arts revival all over the world as they would take center stage in Society like in the Street Fighter and King of Fighters worlds.

If Negi Springfield won, it would usher a new age of Magic...

If Mamoru Chiba prevailed, Crystal Tokyo would be insured no matter what...

If Tenchi Masaki won, Humans would finally make First Contact and reach for the Stars...

And so on...

Of course, it was important none of the competitors had any clue about the Prize. It could influence them or push some to give up, despite the consequences for the transformed girls.
