However, the poor girl's mother was in Sendai, which meant that she had to watch over her son's fiancee. That meant that she had to make sure that Sakura was properly taken care of, with a roof to live under, food to eat, and clothing on her back. She was certain that if she sent any child of hers to the Shinguichi clan, they would do no less than their best, and she would do no less.
As such, she needed to make sure that the girl would be educated, and what better school to do so in than the one where Ranma would be teaching in? It would allow Sakura to both get to know her fiance at the same time as she got a challenging school life. All that was left was to get her properly outfitted, and the girl would be ready for class.
Which Sakura was not so sure about as she followed the elder woman into the store. She didn't mind wearing other outfits, but she wasn't certain of what to make of what was happening. Within a short amount of time, she was engaged to an archmage, moving into a new place, and was being placed into a new school. It was a rather surprising experience, though she was pretty sure that it wasn't about to end yet.
That was proven true as she turned at the sound of voices.
"... This one looks bright enough..."
"Yes, but it is rather heavy," replied a darkskinned girl with pointed ears and white hair to her twin as the sword fighter turned to look at her.
Sakura saw the stangers and simply reacted by pulling out her bokuto, ready in case these were attackers.
Just in time for Mrs. Saotome to see them as well. "Tajra? Is that you?"
"Mrs. Saotome?" the first speaker said with a blink, "I wasn't expecting you to be here."
"As I wasn't expecting you. And this must be Tarja."
"Yes Ma'am," the other dark elf replied, "It is good to finally meet you."
"Thank you. What are the two of you doing here?"
"We are shopping."
Tajra gave a bright smile. "What she means is that we're getting ready for to go to school!"
"You are?" Nodoka murmured. "To which school?"
"St. Bishamon's, of course."
"We figured that we can stick close to our Lord and see what sort of place this is," Tarja added, "And since we got a letter, it's completely official."
Her words brought a smile to the Saotome Matriarch's face. The two of them had such dedication to her son, and were such bright children. It was wonderful that he had retainers such at these, and if things had been different, she wouldn't have minded having a grandchild or two from them. Though she did think that he was still manly enough for... Those were thoughts for later though. Right now it was time to complete the introductions. "This is Sakura Shinguichi, the girl that I have chosen as my son's intended. I've brought her for her supplies so she can attend the school as well."
"She's his fiancee?"
"That is correct."
"Well then," the drow samurai commented, "It's good to see you Miss Sakura. I see that you use the sword too."
Sakura, who had been trying to deal with the fact that she had nearly faced off with her fiance's retainers, blinked in confusion. "Uhmm... Yeah. I'm the latest in my family's line."
"Oh, that's great. Maybe we can spar sometime."
"Maybe."
"Good. And perhaps we'll see each other in school too."
"I don't know," the human girl replied, "I... I haven't even found out what classes I'll have."
"Ahh... We'll just have to wait then."
"Which doesn't mean that we can't enjoy ourselves until then," Tajra put in.
"Of course," Nodoka agreed with a smile at the two dark elves and the teenaged human.
'I guess there can't be that much more in the way of surprises,' Sakura thought weakly while:
