There were four of them, not counting the dreaded nobody-has-ever-seen-her Manager, who worked at Furries 4 U.
Herself, the Clerk, Monique (though typically Monique only worked weekends), and (shudder) Pierre. While she had her differences with the Clerk (such as the whole mysterious nameless clerk thing he had going), Marilyn knew that concern for the pet's well being and health was a very important factor for the Clerk as well. Monique was a member of PETA who felt that tranmogrified human furries were a far more logical and caring choice than enslaving some animal and taking it from its natural environment. Never mind that most of those animals had darn little chance of surviving in the wild after thousands of years of domestication.
Then there was Pierre. (Shudder). Pierre was an artiste. Pierre was nuttier than a squirrel's diet. Pierre looked for an excuse to transfurm the customers and what he usually chose didn't sell well. Moray eels? Crabs? Wolverines? Weasels? What kind of choices were those?
Hmmm. Sailor Senshi. Color coded soldiers of love and justice. Hmmm. There might be something she could do with this. She'd want to keep their elemental affiliations.
Besides be grateful that it hadn't been Pierre's shift. That could have turned into a real mess.
As it was, with Ranma and his other pets (and apparently a fiancee or two, hadn't he said something about multiple fiancees?) and the little call she'd made to the Buildwell Crew - they'd be out of here before Pierre's shift started.
The question was what to make of them. They'd already gone through obedience training, gotten their shots, and their minds were ready to accept their new forms and roles. She had maybe thirty seconds before the machinery started the physical transformation.
Hmmm. If allowed to simply go on, the machines had come up with some interesting choices.
