Nodoka looked around in confusion. The Nekohanten was certainly open. Packed with a largely male clientel, pretty chinese garbed waitresses bustled around casually dodging attempts to fondle or grasp. But none of them was Ukyou, or Akane, or the Chinese girl Shampoo.
Finally a pair of youngish waitresses working as a team stopped in front of her. The left hand one said, “Welcome honorable customer! How may help?”
“Could I have a word with Elder Cologne?”
“Aiyah!” exclaimed the one on the right, “Great grandmother? Must know who asking!”
“Mrs. Nodoka Saotome, the groom’s mother.” a dry voice interjected.
Turning to the wizened woman holding a staff, the pair said in unison, “Great grandmother already here!”
“Yes, yes children. Now back to work. I’ll take care of the customer.” Once the pair had returned to their rounds the elderly lady jumped up to perch on her staff. Balanced there she asked, “What brings you to Nekohanten, Mrs. Saotome?”
“I went to visit my family today but when I arrived at the Tendo home everyone was gone. I heard that Akane and Ukyou were working here with Shampoo and I thought my son might be as well. If not they might know where everyone was. But they seem to be absent as well.”
Cologne considered what to tell son in laws mother. Since it was harder not to hear the girls than to hear them she had a good idea of the location. She also had a good idea that this intrusion would bring the games to a premature end. And Cologne hated boredom. But an answer could be honest yet diversionary at the same time. It might also add a little spice to the blend.
“Today is the girls’ day off and they left early. I believe they planned to meet Ranma and Akane’s sisters but I don’t know where. I do think I can direct you to your husband.”
If Nodoka had to choose between meeting Genma or Ranma she would prefer Ranma. On the other hand Ranma with so many young women at once? That certainly seemed promising! And it wasn’t like Genma repulsed her, in fact the thrill of the chase lent a zest to their relationship.
“That would be wonderful, Elder Cologne. Where can I find him?”
Producing a map of the greater Tokyo metropolitan area Cologne said, “Happosai took him and Mr. Tendo on a week long training trip. Following the reports of underwear theft, peeping, molesting and dine and dash at restaurants and sake bars, it appears that they are making a clockwise circuit of the city. Having passed through these areas, they should be here next.”
“Why, that’s where the girls seminary I attended is. It’s conveniently near the biggest make out park in Tokyo.”
Nodoka blushed at the look she got from Cologne and quickly added, “Or so I was told.”
