Ranma, male once again, sat on the bed while Yuriko “got ready” for the night’s activities. He wasn’t quite sure what to expect—only that he would probably end up doing something that would get him hammered for perversion if Akane were present. He then asked himself the question that underlies every instance of introspection in the multiverse: How the HELL did this happen?
He had expected a nice, relaxing island vacation, but found himself in a place where he was not only expected to be naked most of the time, but was apparently supposed to have copious amounts of sex. But the zinger was that he was here because of his own personal problems, rather than the deviousness of one of the myriad persons who kept trying to interfere with his life. And he couldn’t leave until he solved those problems. And since those problems were sexual in nature… His mind once again fixated on the copious amount of sex he (or she, depending on the circumstances) would be expected to have. Sure, it was nice with Yuriko, but he had always thought that sex was supposed to be special, not something you do with just anyone…
“Ranma?” Yuriko had noticed the troubled look on the youth’s face. “Is something wrong?”
The pigtailed martial artist sighed. Might as well ask her now. “Uh, Yuriko? How many, uh, times, have you, ya know, been a, um, hostess?” His blush made it clear that he was trying to be as indirect as he could (and considering his tendency to shove his foot in his mouth, his question was indirect, relatively speaking).
Yuriko looked nonplussed, but answered his question. “This is the fourth time I’ve been a hostess, and before you ask, yes I had sex with all three of those guests, as well as with dozens of other people on this island.”
Not knowing what to say, Ranma stared at the floor. His hostess, however, figured out exactly what he would have said next. “Let me guess. You’re afraid that I’m just a slut who’s taking advantage of your naïveté.” She got an ever-so-slight nod in response.
It was her turn to sigh. “Ranma, I understand your concerns—I felt the same way about my host when I came here as a guest. And I’ll admit, I have been extremely promiscuous while on this island. And, like it or not, you’ll probably have to have lots of sex with a lot of different people if you ever want to go home. But you need to understand, the reason sleeping around is frowned upon in the regular world is because it produces so many problems like unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, especially when no protection is used. In other words, it’s not that safe. But the magic of this place means that you don’t have to worry about that. This is one of the few places where someone can, in theory, have lots of unprotected sex with total strangers and not worry about the consequences, so it’s no a big deal here.”
“But…”
“I know, I didn’t answer your question. This is where you’ll just have to trust me. The fact that you are neither the first nor the last person I’ll sleep with in my life doesn’t mean I don’t acknowledge your importance as a person… and if strict faithfulness were really important to those that truly matter in your life, you wouldn’t have been able to come here.”
Ranma didn’t quite understand, but decided to accept it for now. “Okay, I guess.”
Yuriko smiled. “Don’t worry, you’ll understand eventually. Meanwhile, we have to get ready for tonight!”
“Um, yeah, about that. What do you mean by ‘getting ready’? If it’s a nudist resort, why can’t we just go as we are?”
His hostess’s reply was unexpected. “Because most of the people here aren’t nudists.”
“WHAT?!”
“Real nudism has very little to do with a person’s sexuality. Instead, it’s more like self-expression. Nudists feel confined by clothing—and thus they only wear it when they have to. They do not go unclothed as some form of exhibitionism. In fact, like most people, they don’t want to be viewed as sex objects. That’s why nudist colonies tend to have vigorous screening programs before someone’s admitted.
“Here, on the other hand, nudity is used for the opposite reason. It is entirely concerned with sexuality. When you step outside of that door, you do so with the intention of being viewed as a sex object. That’s why no one will be offended if you have an erection in public—something that’s generally frowned upon by people who are nude as a lifestyle choice. In some ways, it’s not right to say that the people here are nude—they’re naked. The whole time you are here, you will be encouraged to continue associating a lack of clothing with sex. And since you’re going to be naked pretty much the whole time…” She ended her monologue with a wink.
Before Ranma could respond, however, Yuriko continued. “But in answer to your question of how we get ready… there are ways of making yourself look more like a sex object that don’t involve clothing.” She pulled out a drawer full of bottles, all of which contained oils and lotions for the skin. “Now then, let’s get ready…”
Two minutes later, they were ‘ready to go’—in more ways than one.
