"Who is, father?" asked Kasumi, setting the morning coffee out.
"Genma Saotome, the otherworld Analogue of a dear friend who died years ago." Tsun looked over his daughter and sighed happily. "This will require a family meeting. Summon the others if you would. It is best I go over this only once."
"Very well, father," said Kasumi, checking her spell components.
For Ranma it had been a long ten years. Very long. Horribly long.
His sixteenth birthday was coming up, legally he would be of age in most countries, and then he could FINALLY DITCH THE OLD MAN!
Not that there wasn't some affection for his father. There was. Some. Not much. Probably hide it in a teacup at this point.
He'd lost some respect for the old man when he'd been offered up to the drow elves as an Arena slave. Some respect regained when he'd escaped and found his old man had actually been planning his rescue. Mind you it had taken three years just for his father to get in place to bribe the right officials, so the regain of respect hadn't been complete.
He'd also met the priestesses of Eilistraee during that, and his opinion of SOME drow were now tempered a bit. Some were OK, in fact. They were kinda girly, but a lot of elves were like that.
More respect lost on the Dragonken training. If the old man had bothered to spend more time reading all of the book he would have realized it had been Dragonkin but that was par for the course and he'd gotten a decent friend out of it. Even if she had some odd ideas, that bronze dragon was a very very cool friend to have.
During that two years, he'd been the happiest he'd ever been. Then the old man had shown up, her parents had shown up, and the whole adventuring bit was put to the side. Heck. What could be more natural than a boy and his dragon?! Or a dragon and her boy, as SHE had put it.
Now the two of them weren't even supposed to see each other again because of some crap his father had insisted on. While HE didn't care that much, dragons (at least some) took it damn serious.
Now here he was, for the second time in this "Al Qadim" place. He'd already learned the jann wrestling stuff anyhow.
"Not much further, boy," said Genma. "You've slowed down too much!"
"I've got to follow YOU, old man. It ain't like ya gave me some map to this place!" Ranma was just waiting. One sign he was being sold off and POW! To da moons!
Kasumi sent her call out.
