The Sailor Senshi, of Minato-ku, Tokyo, were quite used to fighting fifteen-foot tall monsters in the streets. After all, they'd been doing just that for over five years (although one of those had been a rerun, so to speak). What they weren't used to, was losing. Especially not in such a spectacular fashion.
That the fight would not be going according to the usual pattern (arrive, spout some speech to hold the monster up while the civilians escaped, then distract it and soften it up some with the Inners' and maybe the Outers' elemental attack while Sailor Moon powered up her final attack of the week), had become readily apparent when the huge black insect-like thing had ignored the speech and impaled Sailor Mars through the shoulder with a long, skeletal and wickedly sharp tail and tossed her into a wall, then caught Sailor Mercury under one ear with the return lash, nearly tearing it off her skull. Things had deteriorated from there.
With two of the Inner Senshi down, maybe fatally (no one had taken the time to check, given that the monster's attention was fixed on them now), the rest had panicked, and over the next minute or so, a series of garbled messages had been screamed out into the ether for whoever wanted to hear them - preferably the Outer Senshi, but any port in a storm. The fact that the monster had advanced until it was standing nearly on top of Mercury, while putting itself between the other Senshi and Mars, had a lot to do with their reluctance to distance themselves too far from the the fight.
The thing itself was faster than hell - stray too far and it'd rush you, snapping with it's wicked-looking mouth or swiping with it's fore-paws. Stray too close, and it'd lash out with its tail, which moved fast enough to create sonic booms at the tip, like a whip. Sailor Jupiter had learned that the hard way, with a broken or perhaps shattered arm to show for it, which was now dangling uselessly. It was also incredibly resilient - what attacks she and Venus had gotten in had done no discernible damage whatsoever, and whenever Moon slowed down to line up for a shot, the monster charged. It was a miracle that she was still alive.
By the time the cavalry showed up, Venus' fuku had been torn apart in the front, her chest a bloody mess of deep cuts, and one of Moon's wings - her beautiful, feathered wings - had been clipped at the joint. The first attacks from the Outers struck just as it moved in to finish Jupiter off.
It didn't work as intended.
The Deep Submerge and World Shaking rocked the beast, but before the next two strikes could land, the Monster had jumped - for their rooftop. As it came down with a heavy crunch, it grabbed Saturn and bent down...
