"I'm a..." Julia blinked getting a goofy smile on her face. "When's the baby..." Her question was derailed as she caught sight of the seven year old girl standing nervously behind Brianna.
Ever since that funny man with the horns had turned into a girl and gone off with the skinny guy with long hair, Ranma had been finding it difficult to understand what was being said. Her new mother spoke decent Japanese, better than Ranma in fact, as did her new aunt Gina, aunt Brittany only spoke a little bit of Japanese herself. Unfortunately, unless they were talking to her directly, her new family spoke English. She was quickly picking up on some words, but still she had no previous education in English.
"What's the story, Brianna?" Julia asked, ignoring or not noticing Gar trying to retrieve his hand. "Have you and Gina been playing games in the lab?"
"Uhh...sensei..." Gar said hesitantly.
"No," Brianna said. "This is Ranma, mom." She turned to Ranma and spoke in Japanese. "Say hello to my mother, Ranma."
"Konnichiwa, Diggers-san," Ranma said, bowing.
"Konnichiwa, Ranma," Julia said in return. She glanced off to the side. "Luan, Carla, can you watch Ranma for a little bit? I need to speak with my daughter."
"Hai sensei!" and the girls descended on the cute little Ranma.
"What about me sensei," Gar asked.
"We're still sparring," Julia said casually...she still didn't seem to be aware that she had an iron grip on his hand. "Okay, Brianna, tell me what's going on, and don't leave anything out. You know I'm going to your sisters to confirm everything."
"It's like this, mom," Brianna said, starting to explain everything.
"That is probably the worst thing I'd ever heard of," Julia said upon getting to the point of what Nodoka had tried to do. "Why do you want to adopt her Bri?"
Julia's eyebrow twitched. "We might have a long talk ahead of us."
"Sensei," Gar indicated politely. "Can I have my hand back?"
"Does that mean I can have my hand back?"
Images of two bomb-freaks in the house pass through Julia's head.
Julia smiled at the sentiment.
"Sensei, my hand."
