He crossed back to the bow of the ship, harpoon gun in hand and watching the barrels circle his ship.
Both barrels.
Perhaps the line had gotten snagged in the white's teeth when it charged the other shark, but Quint doubted it. That barrel was firmly fixed to the white, not simply snagged. That shouldn't have been possible. He glanced back over his shoulder at the Japanese girl and frowned, not liking her sudden, unexplained appearance any more than he liked how the harpoon he'd stuck in one shark had ended up in another.

"What the heck are you doing out here?" Brody asked as he wrapped the girl's leg.
There was a massive chunk torn out of her lower left leg, as if something had impaled her and she'd ripped it out. He wasn't overly certain that the simple first aid kit they had on the boat was going to suffice to deal with the wound.
"What are you doing out here?" Nabiki asked in returning, grimacing as the banadage tightened around her wound.
"You're not hunting that shark are you?" Brody asked, ignoring her lack of response to the first question.
"Right," Nabiki said, off-handedly. "I came hunting a monster fish with nothing but a Hello Kitty swimsuit."
"We don't have time for this," Brody said. "What are you doing here?"
Nabiki sighed and seemed to consider something for a moment.
"Let's see," she said finally in a casual, snide manner. "I turned into a shark, followed you for most of the day, waited for Quint to get a barrel in the brute so that I could fight it and then made a slight miscalculation that resulted in Quint sticking a barrel in me."
"Fine," Brody said. "Just, stay out of the way. I'll figure it out later."
Nabiki rolled her eyes and sighed. Stick in people's faces and they still tried to deny things. She was just like that before. She shrugged and pulled herself to the side, recovery a little from her abortive battle.
