As far a demons went, Barubary was the rough equivalent of a tank. He was heavily armored, heavily armed, and vulnerable to things that were capable of moving much faster than he was, especially if the faster moving thing could do a lot of damage.
In behemoth or mammoth form Ryu was also the rough equivalent of a tank. A fight between the two would have caused more damage than two tanks circling each other and firing at will. Ryu still would have emerged victorious as he could take the form again and be fully healed while every injury Barubary sustained was permanent.
However, Ryu assumed his strongest form, Infini, and was more like an F-16 with a full compliment of missiles. Both sides knew that the fight would be short, brutish, and almost predetermined in its outcome. Barubary still fought as best as he could, even knowing he had already lost.
He sent a blade of energy from his claw at the dragon; it was dodged and responded to with a blast of energy from the gold scaled dragon form. Barubary idly wondered how the warrior in front of him could manage a transformation within a transformation, even for a short amount of time. The dragon was positioned to make a strong attack, so Barubary decided to use his icy breath, which hit the dragon, unsurprisingly.
Ryu had just finished focusing for a double strength Aura attack when the icy wind tore through his flesh. It was not nearly as strong as his own breath attack, but he had to do more damage to the demon if he wanted that to stay true. Ryu reached deep inside his center, just as his deific liege/father Ladon had instructed him, and let his aura, a giant, translucent copy of himself, strike the demon and cut deep. Knowing that weaker attacks would do him no good, Ryu used his form's knowledge of Just How To Do Crippling Damage, Even To Things That Were Not Corporal to use a technique called Bonebreak. Hearing an overly loud crunch and seeing the spot he had hit on the demon's carapace crumple inwards was satisfying, but Ryu still whished that he had not used Celerity earlier. Perhaps he would not have needed to if he had been in a different form when those oddly dressed women had appeared.
Barubary glumly accepted the beginning of the end, gladdened that his end had at no point involved attacks that came from a kitten-head balloon or silly speeches or anything that could be considered cute, cuddly, saccharine, or all three. He resolved to fight as hard as he could considering that he had lost use of about ten legs on one side and that the dragon seemed to be preparing for another strong attack. Barubary decided to use his strongest weapons exclusively form here on. He felt a sinking sensation as the dragon's wounds healed when the flaming breath hit.
Ryu once again silently thanked whomever it was that had first made the Ring of Fire. The Dragon Armor was nice, it nullified fire attacks, but the Ring was so much better as it made flame heal his wounds. Focusing his energies again, Ryu then started to focus to unleash another Aura attack on the dieing demon.
Both combatants recognized the killing blow even before it landed. Barubary despaired even as Ryu exalted in the finish of the battle. Now Ryu just had to...
