She'd seen him pick up the lamp and rub it, and had scoffed at the idiot and his wellspring of naivete and ignorance.
She'd seen the genie form out of a column of smoke and had started running. Ranma was a screw-up from the get go. He'd try to solve his problems and make other people's lives worse. Or worse - he'd actually solve some problem and eliminate a source of revenue for her.
She heard him make the wish, heard it granted, but didn't know that as this was the Lamp Of Lakash - the moment she made a second wish that she would become the slave of the lamp.
Ranma, however, as a result of knowing about all the curses that he could be hit with in the future and how to fix them, knew the moment he focussed on the Lamp what it was, what it did, and that if he avoided making a second wish he wouldn't get sucked in there.
Nabiki laughed evilly, not knowing the second part of the current problem - which was that the current Slave Of The Lamp was a ditz.
"You hold my lamp there in your hand, your every wish is my command," began Mihoshi.
"For my first wish," said Nabiki, interrupting, "I wish-"
