"I'm sure it's nothing to be worried about," Kasumi said soothingly.
Ranma and Akane glanced at each other nervously and half-wished they had told Nabiki and Kasumi what was going on. Kasumi didn't even know about the shared blood yet.
"You know something," Nabiki said. "You both know someth..."
Her eyes widened a bit.
"Cologne told you something after I left to get Kasumi," Nabiki said. "Did it have to do with this?"
Ranma and Akane were saved from answering by timely call.
"Tadaima," Nodoka called out cheerfully. "Is anyone at...oh my goodness..." It was a rather iffy vow for Nodoka to be making, all things considered, but still. "Akane! It can't be happening..."
She had turned the corner into the family room as she had called out and found the Tendos and Ranma gathered. Akane had briefly turned to face the sound of the voice. Long enough for Nodoka to see her red eyes.
"Can't be..." Akane repeated. "You KNEW about this!"
"Mom," Ranma gasped. "Is that true?"
"Knew about what?" Nabiki asked. "What's going on?"
Nodoka sighed and took a seat, the very appearance of someone that had been dreadfully shocked. She closed her eyes for a moment and then opened them again, regarding Ranma and Akane very seriously.
"I take it you've already heard a bit," Nodoka said. "About your father."
"I little bit," Ranma admitted.
"What does this have to do with Uncle Saotome?" Kasumi asked.
"Nothing," Nodoka said, she looked about for a moment. "Incidentally, where are my husband and Soun?"
"Get on with it," Nabiki demanded, not liking where this was going and not wanting to be sidetracked.
"You see, Kasumi-chan" Nodoka said gently. "A little more than sixteen years ago, your mother and I were surprised to learn that our husbands had returned early from a training trip. The celebration I had with...Genma was quite...arousing. I assume the same was true of Kimiko and Soun's meeting."
Kasumi blushed furiously, but didn't say anything to interrupt.
"But it wasn't our husbands," Nodoka said. "It was something else, something...not human."
"Oh my," Kasumi said weakly.
"Not. Human?" Nabiki repeated, not particularly liking that idea.
"But this means that..."
"Yes," Nodoka said sadly.
"That Akane and Ranma are brother and sister!" Kasumi gasped. Drawing looks of disbelief from those around the room.
"And half-demon," Akane said trying to get to the more important part.
"How could you let them remain engaged while knowing that?" Kasumi demanded, neatly ignoring the comment about half-demons. "You even encouraged them."
"It...it..." Nodoka blinked, trying to figure out how to work around this surprise for the moment.
"Wait," Ranma said. "You don't care at all that we're only half-human?"
Kasumi paused a moment and blinked, looking at Ranma.
"You mean, you didn't know," Kasumi asked politely. "..."
