There are many things that can be said about the Villain Juggernaut. They could call him a brute, a destructive force of nature, even a bit of a sociopath. Still he is human, and despite being a villain, seeing two scared young kids run past being trailed by three things, raised his curiosity. Seeing the kids corned in the alley by them and threatened with death also raised a very little used conscience inside him. And so he decided to do his good deed for the year and step in.
The two remaining proto-daimons stepped back and hissed. “Foolish human. You would have been better not to interfere.”
The second proto-daimon nodded. “Yes, if you had stayed out you might have lived long enough to see the silence. No matter you will die with the boy for our master!”
With that the second one lunged its hands forming wicked claws to eviscerate the large man before it. Claws that slide ineffectively across the man's stomach. The proto-daimon looked up in shock for a moment before a large meaty hand grasped it by its neck and picked it up so its legs kicked uselessly in the air.
“See... now you’ve gone and ruined my favorite shirt... congratulations...now I’m MAD....” Cain smirked evilly at the frantic look on the creatures face as he began to squeeze.

Ranma hissed in curiosity at this strange sight before a slight purple glow caught his attention. Whipping back he watched as his queen’s body glowed and seemed to shrink while a strange symbol appeared on her forehead. He cocked his head in curiosity as he watched Hotaru deage, wondering what was going on.
The answer of course is somewhat simple psychology. When faced with a major trauma, the human mind often reacts in different ways. One such way is to regress into an earlier mental state. Hotaru had just witnessed her own father become... something, even as her mother died and more things came after her. The shock had been too much and she passed out while her mind dealt with its new problem. In order to deal with the shock and horror and betrayal, Hotaru’s mind retreated back to an age when everything was alright and she was safe. A time where big brother Ranma guarded her and her Papa was viewed as an invincible, powerful, all knowing guardian and not some monster that killed her Mother.
Had Hotaru been a normal girl such things would have been natural and her mind would have been able to return to normal after several dozen psychiatric visits. However as her mind regressed it touched upon her heritage as the Senshi of death and rebirth, which in turn changed the body to match the mind.
Thus it was a physically and mentally 8-9 year old Hotaru who opened her eyes and saw a giant man casually swat one proto-daimon into LEO while gripping the other in his hand. A very confused Hotaru whose mind had erased the image of professor Tomoe for a vague mental image of a powerful father figure. So it can be really excused about the next assumption her confused and traumatized mind made as she whispered. “Papa?”
Ranma blinked as his queen called out that name while staring at the huge savior. His half bestial mind pondered the fact and came to a conclusion. The previous father had betrayed the queen and apparently done something to her, why else would she have de-matured? Obviously the Queen had decided this new interloper would be her new adult guardian, he would have to make sure this new Father stayed true and loyal to the queen.

Cain smirked. He didn’t even have to summon his armor as he squeezed harder. The proto-Daimon gave out one last high pitched squeal before being pulped into juice in his hand. Juice that quickly turned to dust as it blew away. “Heh, self cleaning opponents. Now if only those other heroes were just as easy to clean up after I clean their clo...eh?”
He blinked as a purple haired girl suddenly glomped his leg, well attempted to anyways her arms not even making it halfway around, while muttering. “Papa-san! Papa-san!” over and over.
“Hey wait! I ain’t your papa, get offa me!” Cain growled, trying to get the little kid off of him as he heard a hiss, turning to see the disheveled and slightly bleeding boy stare at him. “WHAT?”
“Hotaru-sama calls you her new father...” Ranma hissed, even as his wounds healed excruciatingly slow. “You are Hotaru-sama’s new father.”
Cain blinked “Oh no way! Look I’ll see you two squirts to the local police station, but I ain’t no ones father and you can’t......”
Cain stopped as a low sniff was heard, glancing down he saw Hotaru’s big soulful eyes, tears glistening in them as she sniffled. “Oh no... There’s no way! I ain’t good to be a father. That’s my step brother’s shtick!”
Hotaru sniffled as her lower lip trembled...
“It is not going to happen! No way, no how.... not in a million years!”

Two days later.
“I’d like three tickets to Madripoor, one adult two children.” The large man growled grumpily at the airline counter, behind him dressed in some new clothes stood a teenaged boy in a pigtail, standing protectively over an 8 to 9 year old girl with purple hair.
Hmm... Seems like the gem of Cytorak is weak against soulful puppy dog eyes. Who knew?
“Look Charles! You gotta watch them! I can’t steal, I can’t brawl with superheroes, I CAN’T EVEN GET A BEER! People are starting to say I’m going soft!”
Oh dear Ranma and Hotaru at the X-mansion can only lead to trouble.... and embarrassment for Cain.
“o/ Wasting, away.....in the time stream....looking for my lost bottle of alcohol... some people claim....that it’s a Senshi to ...blame....but I know..... Its all GENMA’S FAULT!/o”
*Wince* Ouch who knew Setsuna had such a bad singing voice....
