"We stayed here, didn't we?" he asked.
Genma nodded. "Exactly. Back when I was trying to arrange things so that we didn't get into any trouble, we stayed in this place."
"Cool. Ya actually managed ta find someplace that didn't suck."
"Why thank you... BOY!"
"Heh," the pigtailed boy said with a smirk, "So we're gonna met the guy who helped us back then?"
"Yes, we will. As this is a place that was where we associated back then, it was only natural."
"And easy for ya ta remember."
"That's a virtue here, boy," the elder Saotome replied.
"Whatever. What do we do for now?"
"Just wait until he comes."
Kasumi rather enjoyed her job, and found it rather fulfilling. Which was odd since managing an apartment complex hadn't been something that she'd ever really planned on doing. Rather, it was something that she sort of gradually fell into. As a young woman, she had shown a lot of skill in caring for her home, and her father had seen that. The property was her family's and she had discovered over time that she didn't mind doing the work in order to take care of it.
She actually enjoyed taking care of the building, making sure that everything worked right, and the place was nice and clean for the tenants. Most of them she knew by name, and tried to help them as best she could. They were a pretty nice crowd, and she liked them. Not only were they prompt with their rents, they were rather nice on the whole.
It was a good job for her, and she was fitting well into it. Being an apartment manager was a good thing for her, and she liked how she'd managed to create a nice little community. The place wasn't the biggest, or the fanciest, but it was perfect for her.
Though she did have to wonder if the two people standing outside were looking for a place to stay. They looked rather worn, and she wasn't quite sure what they were there for. But she wasn't nosy by nature, and she had plenty of work to do.
If she saw them needing help, she'd go to talk to them later.
Ranma was not a guy who enjoyed just waiting around. He liked to do things, and even sleeping would be better than just incessantly watching. All he seemed to be doing was risking being picked up for vagrancy, and he'd rather not do it.
But then his father perked up and smiled. "Here he is."
"Finally," the younger Saotome sighed, and looked to see the man who was walking up to them, who was:
