Walking out of her house, Minako stretched and headed for the local pool. While she was walking, she spotted a strange colored lantern in the trash outside a sanitarium. Picking it up, she smiled abit.
"Green? Well, it'll look nice at home. I can go to the pool later."
So saying, she ran back home and entered her bedroom. Finding a match, she picked the lantern up and lit it. After doing so, she put it down and studied her new lamp.
"Lovely shade of green," Minako muttered.
Suddenly, she dropped to her knees as the green light intensified. She heard a voice ringing in her head, that she knew came from the lantern.
"Here now the tale of the Green Lantern! More than a thousand years ago, a green meteor struck outside a villiage in China. As the meteor broke open, it gave a prophesy. Three times shall I flame green. The first to bring death. The second to bring life. The third to bring power."
Falling prone, Minako gasped out, "Is this the first time?"
"No," the voice replied. "A lamp maker from the villiage named Chang went to the meteor and used the molten metal to make a Chinese oil lamp. The villigers attacked him out of fear The first blow killed him and they started burning the books. That was when I flamed green first. The villiagers died that day."
The voice continued, "After that the lamp passed from owner to owner. Bringing good fortune to the good and evil fortune to the wicked. In time it found its way to a sanitarium where a man that was mentally unstable was given the lantern. He remade the oil lamp into a train's lantern and lit the wick. The lamp flamed green once again to restore his sanity thus fulfillinf the second part of the prophecy. Now, I have chosen you to recieve power."
"Power? What sort of power and how do I use it?" Minako thought.
"As to how to use it, use metal from the lamp to form a ring. A ring with my flame. The flame of life. You will have to touch the ring to the lamp once every twenty four hours to restore the flame. Your willpower and imagination will be your guides, however you shall have no power over wood."
The green light faded to just a glimmer and Minako stood, the paralysis gone. She spotted a small lump on the back of the lantern. Breaking it off, she found a hammer and feverishly pounded the spur into a thin band. Finding pliers, she slowly bent the spur into a ring shape, and used the excess material to form a stylized H symbol. Something looking a bit like this: IOI
Putting the ring on, Minako felt her sanity return.
Staring at the ring, Minako wondered, "Was it a dream?"
She touched the ring to the lamp and felt a tingle comming from her ring finger.
"Maybe not."
Minako shook her head and stared at the surroundings in her bedroom. Her eyes fell upon a volleyball.
"Heh. I really should practice some more."
A flicker of green light comming from her new ring caught her attention. She saw a minature green net, two small green people, and a small green voleyball appear in the air.
"What the?"
Clapping her hand down upon the ring, she watched in wonder as the minature volleyball game flickered out.
Staring at the ring, Minako smiled, "I guess I'll keep you. I wonder what else you can do."

Pluto bowed her head in fustration. She was a bit scared of the power that Minako now wielded. A power limited by imagination and will power. The only weakness it appeared to have was wood.
With a bit of trepidation, she checked out.....
