"GATE?" Nabiki asked, holding up a hand. "As in a 'Stargate'?"
"Oh no, no no no no no no," said the Professor. "No. Well maybe. Sort of. Kind of. If you look at it in a certain way. Possibly."
"Thank you for that clear and concise answer," drily said Nabiki. "So what is a GATE then?"
"Generated Access to Transtemporal Existances," said Ranma.
"Oh be quiet, Saotome," said Nabiki, already having enough of a bad day that she was more irritable than usual. "Bad enough we have to all go as a group because the school budget and this facility only allowed for one field trip. What makes you think someone of your extremely limited intellect and even more limited education can understand even a little of this?"
Ranma frowned. Was it Nabiki's time of month again? Man, when all three Tendo sisters hit that week, he spent as much time off training as he could. Bad bad news. He'd have to stay away from Akane. "Actually it's printed in English right over there."
Nabiki frowned and glanced over to the side. She really hated it when he was right. "You'll pay for that, Saotome."
Ranma twitched. Yup. Had to be that time of month again. Hmmm. Maybe he should just try following P-chan for awhile.
"Ranma, shut up and pay attention!" Akane gently (she only used a fifteen pound sledgehammer) on her hated hated hated fiancee. Well, maybe she didn't hate him quite that much. Not all the time at least. Though flirting with her sister was definitely to be discouraged. Damn cramps.
"Now we..." The Professor's eyes and mouth gaped open comically as the student with the pigtail was slammed into a component (which started sparking) and then sat down heavily on the big red switch marked "For the love of kami, DO NOT TOUCH!!!" in friendly large print.

The Professor quickly made his way, struggling against the sudden wind, to the Emergency Shut Down button OSHA (or the Japanese equivelant) had made him install. When he finally cut it off, he looked around. It looked as if there was a large crowd of students still about - most hanging onto fixtures or barricades still. "Is anyone missing?"
"Yeah," came a reply from a student whose namebadge read "Hi, I'm Hiroshi - your place or mine?" The student pointed to the large ring that was the aperature for the GATE device. "Went thataway. It was:"
