It wasn't entirely certain what the spy had overheard near the Hokage's office. Still, for the Hidden Villages of the shinobi, spies could not be tolerated. Only exceptional ability had allowed the enemy kunoichi to escape immediate capture.
The village of Konoha had given rise to no small number of it's own exceptional ninja. Unfortunately, many of those ninjas were often out on missions, training in seclusion to improve themselves, or just not available on a moment's notice. For that matter, 'exceptional' is always a fairly subjective term.
So it was really no great surprise the spy had managed to evade most of her pursuers. She was stealthy, quick, and apparently had some strange ability to travel from place to place instantly. If her 'jumps' hadn't seemingly been limited in distance by the chakra the enemy ninja had available, she'd have escaped easily.
As it was, she'd managed to leave behind the village itself and almost all of her pursuers. More than a few chunin had discovered to their regret that her little 'disappear-reappear' trick lent itself to formidable combat ability as well.
So at the moment the only thing the enemy kunoichi with the strange power would have left to deal with...
