"Stop being stupid, my fiancé," Akane cried as she smashed Tofu into the floor with her big-assed frying pan. "Honestly, Dear," she sighed as she grapped a pigtail and dragged her beloved from the room. "For a doctor you can be a bit thick at times."
Wondering exactly what had happened, Ranma used the Great Will to review the altered history. Oh, yeah, so that's how history had been diverged to engage him to Kasumi.
The good doctor had come over to the Tendo household one day, to propose to his ladylove. However, the wacky hijinks that ensued when his glasses fogged up resulted in Tofu proposing to the wrong daughter in front of their father; and being accepted. Of course, Tofu'd been too soft hearted to immediately correct his mistake and had simply been trying to find a way to gently break off the engagement. Then Ranma had arived on the scene! With Akane already engaged, Kasumi had been the one selected by her family for Ranma. Tofu had flipped. Typically, neither Akane nor Kasumi seemed to grasp exactly why Tofu kept trying to break up the Ranma-Kasumi engagement.
Ranma frowned. He could try to use the Great Will to patch things up between Tofu and Akane, but his fist attempt to do something like that had produced unintended consequences.
"Okay, so it's a nice rock," Nabiki admired with little dimonds sparkling in her eyes and apparently thinking the ring was all Ranma's wishing had produced, "but what are you going to do for an encore?"
"Oh, I don't know," Ranma said coldly. In both the histories, which he now remembered, Nabiki had considered him fair game. "What do you suggest, Nabiki?"
