"So," he said," Commander McLane was the one who made First Contact with the alien ship."
"Yes, sir."
Ryan leaned back and his chair swirled around. He looked down onto Amsterdam in the distance. He had an encounter with McLane a two years ago, when pirates had boarded the EarthForce One. McLane had been the only one on board who hadn't been caught by the pirates and had rescued everyone all by himself. But he had blown up EarthForce One in the process.
Ryan smiled as he remembered the part with the pirate attack on the alien ship and nodded to himself. McLane had been the right person to be at the right time at the right place.
He turned his chair again and looked at the skunk-meta in front of him.
"He said that the alien are a skunk-like species?"
The Meta smiled and nodded.
"Yes, sir."
Ryan smiled.
"I guess, we should fly to Babylon 5 than. Try to find some skunk-metas in the diplomatic corps."
"Yes, sir."

Captain Soandso and most of the people on the bridge, including the Princess, stared at the viewscreens, as the 'Salusias Grace' bypassed flew by the fourth planet of the Sol-System in one million kilometers distance.
The part of the planet they could see was dominated by a large artificial construct, spanning over a deep chasm in the planets crust. Beneath the construct seemed to be breathable air, opposed to the thin atmosphere of the planet, and the scanners read more than twenty million individual life signs beneath the structure.
One thing was for sure, that geodome structure was larger than anything they knew about. And it was the third shock they got since they entered the system and flew towards Earth and the station called Babylon Five.
The first shock had been the large and numerous stations orbiting around the ringed planet. After they asked McLane what kind of stations they were, he answered that they were hotels and stations for the tourists. Not that anyone aboard the 'Grace' didn't like the view they got of the ringed planet, called Saturn.
The second shock was the large ship that surfaced from the largest planet of the system, the 'Quantum'. It was a large cube of four miles edge length and the scanners told them that it had a 500 meter thick armor. At a question, McLane said that the ship had been designed to dive deep into the planets atmosphere to mine something called Quantum-40. That a ship of that size and intend had been build by the humans spoke a great deal about their engineering abilities.
And now this large geodome.
Soandso swallowed.
"What's next..."
