What she discovered was that the Senshi were not born as others were. As she watched, she saw someone actually use magic to summon up an Ami to help with their homework. That told her a lot, and she started checking into exactly what they were, and how they'd come about on this world.
Apparently, they were magical constructs, created by sorcery and able to be summoned as needed. It was how the wizards of some worlds might use an elemental or a creation to do their work for them. They could be companions, helpers, or just easy labor. And so that explained why there were so many of them.
It seemed that this world didn't have magic as a secret as she knew it. Rather than it being the stuff of folklore, stories, supersition and the occassional 'stage act', it was something that people had taken as fact. A long time before the current situation, there had apparently been a mage of some skill who'd managed to unlock the secrets of an ancient tome he had found. He had known that he couldn't use this magic to its fullest, but he could base his own techniques after it. And he managed it quite well, allowing him to set the stage for the constructs of the present day.
