Kasumi sat down and sighed. "Akane's sleeping well now."
"That's good," said Ranma, "Do ya know when she'll get better?"
"In a few days, I hope."
"Then my poor baby won't die?" sobbed Soun.
"Of course not Daddy," Nabiki said as she picked at her rice, "She's just got that stupid flu."
"Aren't you hungry?" asked Kasumi.
"No... Don't really have an appetite. Besides, I have to watch my figure," said a tiredly smirking middle Tendo, before breaking off into a coughing jag.
Her sister reached over and felt her head. "You're burning up! That's it. Off to bed for you!"
"But I have so much to do..."
"No 'buts'. You need your rest."
"You don't look too hot either."
"Nonsense. I'll be fine. We just need to get to get you to bed..."
Ranma watched the two Tendo sisters leave the room. This was just great. Everybody was sick, and he still had to go to school. Well, at least he only wound up with the sniffles. He was sure that he'd be fine in no time.
He just didn't know that he was only beginning to feel the signs. Or that Nabiki's attention to the rice had been diverted by a certain jock at the table. Or that Kasumi had needed to get hers sister away so that she could figure out why she was staring at Ranma-kun out of the corner of her eye as well as concern for her health.
Nor did he know about how the flu had spread beyond the Tendo household.
No, he was mainly put out that everyone seemed sick that day. He'd still have to go to school and then:
