In a daze, Tohru wobbled out of the Souma home without waiting for Yuki. She could hardly be blamed for forgetting about Yuki, for she just faced death in the form of a flying knife. If it hadn't been for a fluke contraction of her muscles, she'd be laid out on the slab by now.
"Tohru-chan, is something wrong?" asked Uotani Arisa, whom Tohru had dubbed the affectionate name of 'Uo-chan'. Hanajima Saki, dubbed 'Hana-chan' by their mutual friend, also noted the distressed waves coming off from Tohru.
Still looking quite dazed, Tohru tried to ward off the question with an offhanded-sounding remark. "Oh, don't worry. Kyou-kun threw a knife at me, aiming at Souma-kun. Fortunately, a freak arm spasm caught it."
Arisa's eyes widened, her face draining of all of its blood. "Arm spasm. Right. Is Kyou-ku... er, I mean, are you okay?" she asked with concern.
Tohru scratched the back of her head. "Well, physically I'm fine. I just got a little scare. It's Kyou-kun I'm worried about," she said, only somewhat shakily. "When I left them, Souma-kun was... er, disciplining Kyou-kun about throwing sharp objects around the house. Poor Kyou-kun."
"Disciplining. Right. Kinder than the 'discipline' you'd give him, Tohru-chan..." murmured Arisa.
"What was that?" asked Tohru innocently.
"Nothing..." Arisa responded immediately. "Just muttering to myself. Don't worry about it. You're fine. I'm sure Kyou-kun will be right along momentarily, back to his old uncouth self."
"Okay!" came Tohru's cheerful reply, zipping along ahead. The two other girls hung behind, however.
"Do you think that SHE came out?" asked Arisa, quietly.
Saki turned stiffly towards Arisa. "Undoubtedly. After all, 'the toushi protects the boke from within,' as she would put it," came the wave-girl's frank response.
"Hana-chaaan, Uo-chaaaan! Hurry up!" called Tohru from up ahead, waving.
"Don't worry about it. She's still Tohru, even as the toushi. The toushi helped you out of that tight spot, after all." With that Saki sped up to catch Tohru up.
"I know... I just wish she wasn't so vicious about it."
As they trio approached the school, they spotted the Souma-Stormtroopers gathered just inside the entrance. 'The Souma-Stormtroopers' was a nomen that a first-year student slapped on this group of a small group of girls who were totally obsessed with Souma Yuki, known as the Prince. No doubt they were waiting for their beloved Souma-kun today.
Since Tohru started arriving along with the Prince, the Stormtroopers starting harassing her. They really put the screws on Tohru, pressing her to 'not get so close to their Souma-kun'. Usually though, Uo-chan and Hana-chan were there to keep the two from doing anything serious, and the Stormtroopers were restricted to verbal attacks, and none too serious attacks either.
Little did they suspect that Tohru's two friends two did it for their protection, not Tohru's!
