No Tendo: To The Stars [Episode 119112]

Souichi hadn't really known about how they had found him, but they had done so quite easily. Even without the uniforms, he had known that they were government people, and were quite obviously not of the sort that wanted to stand out. Each of them carried themselves with a professionalism that spoke of experience and dedication to a task.

That made the fact that they'd come to him rather odd. After all, even if he was a highly regarded professor, he wasn't known for being... conservative in his theories. He'd already published several papers that spoke of possibilities that some of his critics considered nearly akin to science fiction. Unfortunately, the only way to really prove any of them would be to see them in action, and the chances of that were slim. It wasn't like someone had the technology handy to prove a method of FTL travel, or the ability to create a dimensional pocket. Not that he couldn't have eventually done it, but he had a daughter to care for.

However, the government boys had been rather... insistant. They had seen his papers, and decided that he would be a big help in something that they were working on. Not that he wanted to be involved in anything dangerous, but they were adamant that they had put in every safety precaution that they could into what they were doing.

The allure of doing something as advanced as they were promising wasn't something that he could resist, especially when they told him the benefits that would be outside the ones that came from an exciting work environment. What with continuing care and protectiong for his daughter, he knew that he couldn't help but to accept.

And so he was brought into the Stargate Project. It was an attempt to use wormholes to travel to a distant world, and with his knowledge of Dimensional Physics, they could do a lot better than without it. But it also proved that not only was he right, but that someone important believed in his work. As such, he felt that he had to prove that he wasn't some fluke, and could actually provide a great deal of assistance in this.
