Shun had gotten up that morning early, knowing that she needed some extra time to make sure that her disguise was completely in place before she stepped out of her room. It wasn't much of a disguise, as she hadn't changed all that much being turned female by baka-Hermod, just a sarashi (chest wrapping): the men of the Kisuragi family looked like women—always had. She went down to breakfast, her first breakfast as a real onna. It wasn't much of a landmark, to be sure, but it was a landmark.
The housemother often used this time to catch up on her soaps, as she didn't have to cook. The 'cooking club' took care of the dorm meals, the 'cleaning club' took care of most of the housework, which left her with the job of vegetating on TeeVee and absorbing large quantities of fatty foods while obsteniously keeping an eye on all who come and go from the dorm. Life was good for her.
Life wasn't so good for Shun. It seemed 'The Three Stooges' were in rotation for breakfast, as attested by the overcooked eggs, burnt toast, runny oatmeal and underripe fruit. Fortunately, Mitsuru had called for attention by banging his little mallet against the little piece of wood. Everyone gladly gave theirs to him, taking it off the food.
"Friends! Greenwoodians! Dormmates! Lend me your ears! I came here to praise the bet, not to bury it..." We leave Mitsuru's rather long, pseudo-Shakesperian speech and summarize: It was unfair for Shun to be bearing all the risks and get none of the reward. Therefore, if Shun makes it through the betting period without blowing his(her) secret to the new kid, (s)he would win the entire pot.
The dormitory boarders murmured amongst themselves. There were some who were grumbling about the arrangement, but the majority seemed to agree that the arrangement was only fair. As a group, Greenwood was satisfied.
"Thanks, sempai..." whispered Shun as Mitsuru came off the proverbial podium.
A grin on his face, Mitsuru put his mouth to Shun's ear. "Don't thank us. We're imposing a 35% cut on the pot," he whispered back.
Shun blinked, then frowned. "That's highway robbery!" growled the new girl.
"It's hush money on what your strategy for keeping your little change under wraps," Mitsuru countered. He wiggled his eyebrows when he said 'wraps'.
Shun snorted. "You and your yakuza rackets... I should've know there'd be a catch..."
