At least, her physical humanity was.
The demonic power twisting her thoughts at the moment had twisted the process and the spliced genes were now inherent to her, indistinguishable from the rest of the code. It would take years of research to unlock what of her DNA was the original and which was added.
In addition, the demonic power was awakening, or perhaps even creating, reserves of magical energy as it pooled about the young woman. In addition to becoming non-human, Sayoko was slowly becoming inherently magical, possibly even immortal.
And this was not the end.
The demonic energy was not burning out on it's own.
As it awakened Sayoko's magical nature, it fed upon that and remained within, spreading and spreading outward like a virus. Soon, Sayoko would begin to feel the physical symptoms. She was already feeling the mental ones.
She'd gone through the expulsion of demonic taint before and it hadn't been fun then, especially as she hadn't known what was happening. And now, unless someone externally purified her soul, her body would never be rid of the curse.
The problem was, the more inherently magical she grew, the more difficult it would be to remove the taint.
At least...
...without killing her.
