Who he was quite sure was non-existant, or at the very least nothing what-so-ever like mere mortals thought a God was like, but lifelong habits were lifelong habits, and quite impossible to turn aside at this point in time---
I really would like it if I could manage to survive till an owl with a letter with my name on it. Thank You.
He really wasn't all that easy to damage or kill, with his all things considering rather ridiculously high Magical baseline levels and all---But They sure were giving it Their best, weren't They now?
Just how long since the beating and---alright, just how long, period, had been he left in here?
Too damn long, said his parched throat. Damnit.
Did he even have enough power to blast down the door, now?

And that was the exact moment that there was a scrabbling noise at the cupboard's door.
"---Are you there? Sister Annette isn't going to be back to tomorrow an I was worried, hush hush---"
"---Helen?"
She'd stolen the keys. The idiot! If They caught her---
"Oh you're all right!"
Water, blessed water. And half a biscut? How'd she gotten that?
"---Helen, thankee, but now go back."
"But---"
The damn idiot!
"Just lock it again. Sister Annette'll let me out when she comes back."
---Sister Annette could get away with defying Them, at least a little. Better then Helen could, anyway.
"---I'll tell her, then. First thing!"
"Right. Now go."
A grubby little hand, patting him. Yes it's all right, now go you foolish girl.
"---I didn't know you had a auntie or a uncle, Tommy."
And then there was only the dark.
