"Come on, girlie," another thug snapped, mildly amusing since he was right around Ranma's age. He grabbed Ranma's suitcase and started talking loudly, as if that would help some one who didn't speak English to understand. "Hand! It! Over!"
"Sssh, dunce!" one of the thugs corrected him. "Don't attract attention."
Ranma let go of the bag and slowly handed over her purse. She used the umisen-ken to palm the few things she needed, her passport and identification, but there really was nothing irreplaceable in her bags.
"Good girl," the thug said as Ranma looked over him and his friends carefully. Then they were gone into the mostly empty airport.
She quickly caught her breath after the thugs had vanished. In theory she could easily take all five of them with even breaking a sweat. But there was a lot of unknowns between theory and practice, and she had not yet actually been in a fight. If, perhaps, one of the punks had had a gun...well, that changed everything.
Ranma continued to settle herself down as she approached the security office to report the robbery.
"Excuse me," a voice called out. Worried that she was about to be accosted again, Ranma cautiously turned to see an older man in a traditional suit approaching her. "Would you be Ranma Saotome?"
"I am," Ranma said, bowing and relaxing. "Are you Pennyworth-san? Wayne-san informed me that you would pick me up."
"Yes, Miss Saotome," Alfred said. "May I help you with your bags?"
"I am afraid...Pennyworth-san," Ranma said, gesturing toward the security office she was heading for and the blank space at her side. "That someone already has."
"Oh dear," Alfred said, aghast. "My apologies, Miss Saotome, this should not have been your first introduction to our city. Did you lose anything?"
"Nothing important," Ranma said. "I just need to report it, Pennyworth-san."
"Well, let us do that," Alfred said. "And then we'll see about moving you to your new accomodations, Miss Saotome."
