It is quite interesting to note that, as a child, one’s learning curve is greatly increased. This is a natural survival function of the body to make sure that the lessons it needs to learn for survival are learnt as quickly as possible. The only thing that keeps children of that age from learning so much is their lack of reference, knowledge, and experience.
Now this young child has had entire lives worth of reference to many different things, though not all could be considered quite useful. For example, knowledge on how to fix a watch with jam, or make tea with a door mouse are not considered required skills in modern society to say the least.
However, knowledge is knowledge nonetheless, and it can very well be said that the Cheshire Cat wasn’t quite as mad as everybody else was, the very nature of cats prohibiting such a thing. Mischievous and oft times malicious he may have been, but not quite mad, no.
And so now, the limited knowledge of the young Ranma had been added to that of the rather vast, of unusual, knowledge of the Cheshire Cat… Now bolstered with a rather large reference file, intelligence will now be much easier to make apparent and use on a more regular basis.
Innocence lost can never be regained.
As he slowly came to realize this, he wondered about what turns his life would take from this point onwards. He still wanted to be a martial artist, something that was at the very core of Ranma’s being; however, he also wanted to be mischievous, and toy with those around him for his own amusement.
The two did not really conflict each other.
Unbeknownst to Genma, Ranma smiled in his sleep… and it was anything but the innocent cheerful smile of a child.
