One in a million chances.
Stories are based on them. Epics revolve around them.
Sometimes... they just happen, usually when you least expect them.
The five scientists that had created the Gundams of the Gundam Wing reality, when captured by White Fang forces and forced to create the battleship Libra, had created a critical flaw in the main beam cannon. This flaw prevented the weapon from firing consecutively. During the battle between the White Fang and Earth Sphere forces, the Peacemillion rammed the Libra, rendering completely useless the main weapon. Unknown to anyone, another flaw was present. This flaw, through plot contrivance or outright continuity error, could only ever affect the outcome of what would happen by a one in a million chance.
And stories like this one, as I've said before, are based on such chances. The second, unknown flaw allowed an energy feedback loop of catastrophic proportions to very slowly build up until the reactors exploded. The explosion would rip a hole in space/time, and anything nearby would be pulled through.

"White Fang has been defeated."
Heero smiles at Relena. "I'll make you a bet. Zechs doesn't think that he's lost. What's more, I doubt him or Treize are ever going to allow this battle to end."
"What?"
"That's why I've got to go and fight them."
"Do you really think-" The Peacemillion rumbles.

Libra itself shook as the energy feedback loop approached critical mass.
Quatre stood over a fallen Dorothy. "What was that?"
Dorothy, prone on the floor doesn't look up. "The main beam cannon... Peacemillion's attack damaged the power systems. Libra is about to explode."
"What?! We have to get out of here!"
"...go. I won't stop you."

Duo and the five scientists made it to the hanger holding Deathstrike. "Phew! Made it!"

Quatre hurried as fast as he could manage, dragging Dorothy behind him.
"Why are you helping me?"
"You.. are a very kind person. Please, try to accept your kindness."

Wing Zero accelerated out of the hanger, then rocketed towards Libra. At the last moment when the ship shook, Heero had grabbed Relena and pulled her into the cockpit.
"Heero?"
Silence was her only answer.
"Why are we heading towards Libra?"
Heero grunts. "Zero told me that this way is the safest."

Treize in his Tallgeese and Wufei in his Nataku paused midbattle as Libra began to glow, explosions travelling across it's surface hull.
"How... poetic," Treize remarks. "The explosion will take out both forces simultaneously."
Wufei stares in horror, only one thing on his mind. "Quatre..."
Suddenly, Nataku bursts into motion, heading for Libra. Treize, surprised, chases after him.
"Don't try to stop me, Treize! I have to help Quatre!"
"You mistake my intentions. I merely wish to get a better view."

"Noin." Epyon and a white Taurus stood on the hull of the Libra, seemingly ignoring the nearby explosions. "You should leave."
"I told you. I will stay here by your side."
Zechs smiles. "Then we meet our fate together."
A light appears in the near distance. Zechs sees it, knowing Heero is almost there. The Wing Zero closes the distance and sets down on the Libra just meters from Epyon.
"Hello, Heero."
"Zechs."
"Heero?! Why do you have Relena with you? Get her out of here!"
"She has to be here with us. That is what Zero told me."
".....I thought Epyon was wrong, that this wouldn't happen like this."
Suddenly, time ran out.

The explosion was bright enough to be seen by many, if not all. That same day, humanity breathed in a collective sigh of relief. The utter tragedy of that last event brought to head the efforts of those who sought to create peace. For many decades after, the sacrifice of so many was memorialized, and secured so that they would never be forgotten.
But what of those caught in the explosion? Were they all lost in the blast? Or did something more happen?

Meanwhile, in another reality, a hole was ripped in the very fabric of space/time, a bright flash of light marking the spot. Soon enough, the light dissapated, leaving behind a large cloud of debris. And mobile suits.
"...wh- where are we?"
