“Ah, Setsuna!" Maverik started. “Glad to reach you. You see-”
“I’m not here right now, this is a recording,” Came the voice of Setsuna Meioh once more.
Maverik face-faulted forward onto his desk.
“Please leave a message after the beep, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you, and have a nice day.”
*BEEP*!
Sighing, the Calico lifted his head up from the desk. “Heya, Setsunny, it’s me, Maverik Calicas. I’m calling about a problem I’m having. I’m glad you were able to find me an already established club to work with, but I’m having some problems as of late. Especially ones that concern angered blondes that wield sledgehammers to try and smash poor, innocent, sweet furry Calicos such as moi. So I was wondering if there’s any way to pull out of this closing, or maybe even try to find another place. Call me as soon as you can, okay Setsunny?”
*BEEP*!
Maverik blinked his eyes. “I guess that was all the space they give for messages on her recorder.”
Placing the phone back into it’s cradle, Maverik blinked his eyes as it started ringing. “Hello, Crazy Calico, Maverik Calicas speaking.”
“Hello Calicas-san, this is Uramenchi from Home Depot,” Came the male voice from over the phone.
The Calico smiled. “Ah! Yes. So, when are more of the workers going to get over here? We need to get this place up and running soon.”
“Well, there’s been a slight problem,” The voice over the phone answered.
Maverik’s eye twitched. “What problem?”
“Your order didn’t come in yet,” The man over the phone said. “We’re being held up at customs. It’ll take some time for the toilets and sinks from the home-store over in America to get more over to Japan.”
“Wonderful,” Maverik groaned. Raising a hand to rub his eyes, he asked, “How about man-power to get the job done once the parts do come in?”
“That’s no problem,” The man assured. “We have many workers on staff that are curious about working on your building.”
“Well that’s...” Maverik paused, wondering how to say this. “Good.” And it was. If they had to move to another location, at least they’d have time to find one before work had to be started. “Well, thanks for calling, Mr. Uramenchi.”
“No problem, Calicas-san,” Came the voice over the phone. “I’ll keep you updated as things go on.”
“Thank you,” Maverik said. “I’d appreciate it greatly. Take care now.” And so the Calico Fur hung up the phone.
However, the phone rang again. “Argh...” He picked it up again. “Hello?”
“YOU’RE DEAD, YOU HEAR ME, FURRBALL!” Came the voice of a ratehr psychotic blonde. “VENGEANCE WILL BE-”
*WHAM*!
The Calico breathed a little heavily as he kept his hand on the phone. “Hopefully that was a wrong number.” Shaking his head, Maverik wondered how this day could get any worse...
...And then the door to his office opened. Standing there was a Cosplay Splice, the nine Kitsune tails waving about behind him.
Maverik groaned. “Look, Xero, can we talk later? I‘m not in the mood right now.”
“Why can’t we talk now?” Xero asked.
“Well let’s see... First you slammed me with the car’s rear-end, ran me over three times, and did a donut on my head,” The Calico Splice said in irritated tones. “What could you possibly have to say that I’d want to hear?”
Looking at his friend, Xero simply stated, “I bought you a car.”
The Calico blinked his eyes once, twice, thrice. "You what?"
Xero annunciated for the disbelieving Calico. “I. Bought. You. A. Car.”
Maverik continued to stare. Was he hearing this correctly. “What car?” He asked seriously. Knowing his luck, Xero probably got him a junky 1984 Doge Caravan.
Rolling his eyes, Xero pointed out the window at the Lamborghini that was being unloaded from a truck. “That car.”
Maverik stared with wide starry eyes, his face pressed firmly against the glass of the window. “You... Got me a Lamborghini!?”
Nodding his head, Xero explained, “A Lamborghini Murcielago convertible. First saw it on an episode of Top Gear. James said it best: ‘Gentlemen of the adult entertainment industry, your car has arrived’.”
Maverik laughed like a giddy school-girl. He literally lunged at Xero and hugged the Kitsune Cosplay Splice tightly. “THANK YOU!!!”
Stumbling back a moment, Xero forcibly pushed Maverik off from him, “Cool it, man.”
Maverik bounced back and forth on his feet. “AT LAST!” He cheered as he ran out of his office. On the air, one could hear the Calico’s voice say, “I can be a true Mack-Daddy!”
Shaking his head in disgust, Xero rolled his eyes. “Oh, boy... I’ve created a monster...”
After a few more moments, Xero finally called out after the Calico. “Hey, Mav! Don’t you need the keys?”
And just like that, the sound of feet storming back up the stairs was heard, getting louder with each step. The Calico literally lunged back into his office. “Keys! Keys! Need keys for precious!”
Again, Xero rolled eyes; holding out the keys for Maverik.
The Calico snatched them from Xero’s hand and went storming down the stairs, screaming, “BIG PIMPIN’!”
Xero shook his head. “Oh, well. Time to go get Jen so she can pick up HER new car.”
