The old man behind the desk looked up from his paperwork, his scowl brightening. The old woman sitting on the other side of the room glanced up, then went back to filing her nails and popping her chewing gum.
"Hello, young man," The shop keeper rose slightly from his desk, acknowledging the boy. "Is there anywhere in particular you'd like to go?"
"Umm" Ranma scratched the back of his head, "I'm kinda looking for a birthday gift. It's for a girl I know."
The old woman stopped filing her nails, "Really?" she purred. Ranma shuddered slightly.
"I think I know just what she might want," The old woman's eyes seemed to gleam, but perhaps it was just sunlight drifting in from the blinds.
"What do ya mean?"
The old man stepped in front of the woman, "Well, my boy, we offer an exclusive vacation arrangment with a particular island resort. She'll be waited on hand and foot. She'll soak in the sun and be albe to just get away from it all. She'll never want to leave. It just doesn't get any nicer this side of paradise." He grins, dramatically posing.
"Huh?"
The old man deflates, letting his arms fall.
"Look, kid. We got a business to run. If you're looking for a gift for your girl, I'm sure there are other nice shops around here you can visit."
The old woman leaps to her feet. "Wait, wait, wait. Hold on just a minute, buster. He's ours. Let that old coot in the bathrobe get his own vic...er...customers."
Ranma was edging, no so inconspicuously, towards the door. He didn't know what the crazy old farts were arguing about, but he wnated no part of it.
Then the woman turned, and pinned him with her eyes.
"So, handsome, tell me about this girl..."
"Ummm...Her name's Shampoo."
"Really?"

The door slammed shut behind him. Ranma looked up and realised the sun was in a different position in the sky. He looked down to what was in his hands.
A stack of tickets...one for each of his fiancees and his rivals...and one extra...to a place called Fantasy Island...
