"So," Rikku said as they left the Nekohanten behind them, "where to now?"
"More likely who'se next?" Nabiki replied, sounding more like asking a new question rather than correcting her daughter.
"There you are!"
The Saotomes turned to see, to Ranma and Nabiki's eyes, a familiar teen with blakc hair and clad in a yellow tank top and black pants while sporting a yellow headband with black stripes on it. On his back was a large backpack with a red umbrella somewhat sheathed on the top.
"I've been looking for you, Ranma," the teen stated befor he broke into a run at the Saotomes, or more correctly, at Ranma.
Ryoga, Nabiki and Ranma thought simultaneously. "I'll handle this personally," Ranma said before taking two steps forward. Whatever Ryoga was upset about now, Ranma would not allow him to lay a finger on his wife or children. While he remained still, he was ready to counter whatever Ryoga would throw at him. Ryoga's always started off with either of his fists or with his umbrella, or maybe he's got something new...
Indeed Ryoga did have something new; something no one, least of all the Saotomes, would have ever seen coming. He ran right up to Ranma...
"Ha ha ha! How you doing, you old trickster? It's good to see you again!"
Nabiki nearly fainted. Rikku and Kenshiro were puzzled. Ranma, he was shocked beyond words. Ryoga had just given him a friendly man-hug and heartily greeted him like a long-lost friend.
Ryoga kept smiling, even after he broke off the hug and carefully examined Ranma. "Wow! It really IS you. It's been six months but... you've changed a lot. Don't get me wrong, you look good, but you really seem different." His eyes fell on Mrs. Saotome. "And is that Nabiki? Then you did run off together. I'm shocked."
Finally, Ranma managed to get the words out. "Who are you?"
At this Ryoga laughed. "Can't believe it's really your old pal/rival/sparring partner Ryoga Hibiki, do you? Well, I can prove I'm me. Observe!" Ryoga pulled out a thermos and handed over to Ranma before he took out a bottle of spring water and then doused himself with it. Seconds later, P-chan emerged from Ryoga's clothes, making pig sounds that sounded almost like "ta-da!"
"I think he's not lying, dad," Kenshiro said.
Ranma shook his head to try and gather his senses before he opened the thermos and poured the hot water over P-chan, changing him back to Ryoga, fully clothed, too.
"Any more doubts?"
"Don't take it personally," Rikku said, "but... we were always told you hated-."
"Ranma with a passion," Nabiki quickly finished for her daughter. The absolute last thing Ryoga needed to hear was that Ranma and Nabiki were parents. It may snap him back to the normal "Ranma-Prepare-to-die" Ryoga.
"Well, a lot's changed while you guys were gone, especially after Akane found out about my curse-."
"She what?!" Ranma exclaimed. "How'd that happen? She's never, ever put the pieces together when the concept was right in front of her."
"It was a shock. She... well, this is sorta embarassing. You see, she decided one day to give me a bath shortly after you were gone. I was taking a nap and she gently carried me into the bathroom and just dumped me into the water. When I jumped out of the boiling water, I saw her looking at me and realized she now knew that P-chan was me and I was P-chan the whole time."
"How'd she take it?"
"Don't know, Nabiki. When I realized she knew of my Jusenkyo curse, I ran out of the bathroom, grabbed my spare gear and got the hell outta there fast. Luckily, I haven't been back to the Dojo since, plus I've been making sure to stear clear from Furinkan High."
"Look, Ryoga, I know you. There's no way all of that could have caused your 180 about how you feel about me."
"It didn't believe me. I still hated you by then. But, there's more. I met this girl and..." Then, Ryoga gasped and checked his watch. "Oh damn! I promised I wouldn't be in Nerima this long. She's gonna kill me! Ranma, Nabiki, you gotta get me back home right away. My sense of direction is still lousy, and I gotta get back now!"
