Ranma looked around at the tunnel. At least they weren't falling anymore."Here we go - what?"
"Akane wished you out of her life forever, so here you are where your path and hers won't cross again," said Mihoshi, fumbling around in a briefcase. "Ah, here we go!"
"What's this?" asked Ranma as the gal pulled a large backpack, a small pouch, a katana, four books and a small bat out of her briefcase.
"I know it's here somewhere," said Mihoshi, continuing to dig.
Not getting an answer, Ranma looked over the tunnel in more detail. It was bricked with support arches made of similar materials. He glanced back at Mihoshi, noted she was still pulling odd things (a tanuki statue, a plastic Colonel Sanders, four boxes of kleenex, and a tin box of Bag Balm™ had been added to the pile) and returned to his inspection.
Lighting was from lanterns spread fairly far apart. He could barely see the glimmer of the next ones further down the corridor. "Where did ya say this was?"
"Well, the world is called Eberron," said Mihoshi as she pulled a live chicken out of the briefcase. "We're in ward of Khyber's Gate in the Cogs section of the city of Sharn in the kingdom of Breland."
"Never heard of it," admitted Ranma.
"Here we go," said Mihoshi, handing Ranma a small box. "Those are your identity papers for this world, sort of like your ID card and your hanko at the same time."
"What's a Level 16 Monk mean?" asked Ranma.
"Martial artist, very skilled," said Mihoshi.
"Ah," said Ranma, accepting that.
"Let's see - you come from a mountain village in Cyre, which is now a no-man's land twisted by terrible magic," said Mihoshi, reading from a script. "There you studied under a master of the martial arts known as Nameless. Here's a booklet on the martial arts techniques you have available in this world."
Ranma grabbed the tossed booklet and began reading up on it. He got special manuevers and techniques out of it, which helped him deal with it. As for Akane's rejection, well, he'd deal with his feelings on that later.
"As an experienced martial artist and adventurer, you're expected to have a lot of stuff, but we'll go with the idea that you ran into some con-men who cheated you out of everything but the clothes on your back," said Mihoshi, continuing to read the script. "All you've got left is a Belt Of Levitation, Bracers Of Striking, and a Heward's Handy Haversack."
Ranma took each of the items uncertainly. "They don't do nothing weird, do they?"
"No, according to this your life is weird enough without a cursed magic item," said Mihoshi. "Oh! This part says this is where I leave! Bye-bye!"
Ranma looked at where the genie had faded out, then over at the pile of useless crap she'd apparently forgotten about. Oh well, he might as well:
