It warmed her heart to think that he was settling in so nicely. No mother could ask for a better situation, especially as he already had the little girls watching him in amazement. Sure, it would likely be nothing save for the games that children play, but she was certain that he'd be a heartbreaker when he grew up. Of course, she did have a bit of depression at the idea of her son getting older, and growing apart from her, but she knew that it would happen if she wanted it to or not. All that she could do was to make the best of it that she could.
Catching sight of his wife humming happily to herself, Genma slumped in his seat and sulked some more. Things were not going as he had planned them to be, and he was not at all happy with recent trends. His boy was supposed to be taking proper instruction from him, like a good son, but he was heading over to a 'friend's' house instead. That was the sort of thing that he'd been trying to avoid, yet it seemed that it was going to happen no matter how much he tried to make it otherwise. About the only thing that wasn't a problem was the fact that his son had taken those two overgrown lizards with him.
They just didn't seem to like him for some reason, and had no trouble showing it, but he couldn't see why that would be the case. It wasn't like anyone could really figure out their thinking anyway.
At the same time that the Saotome Patriarch was acting less mature than a five year old, someone else was thinking about the dragons. But this person was not reacting as he had at all.
Megumi Morisato simply stared at the cute dragons, and smiled. They were just the sort of thing that she could get interested in, as they were both cuddle worthy, and strong. She was the sort of girl who used her blocks to really build things, and liked to fiddle with gadgets. These were not the sort of things that had anything quite to do with little frilly dolls, even though they each held a drink rather delicately for something of their size.
And then there was the one that had brought them to her home. He wasn't like a lot of the icky boys who thought 'girl' meant 'sissy'. Here was a guy who was treating her nicely, and wasn't trying to put on much of an act. Not that he had to anyway, since he'd apparently proven to be big and strong, what with what she'd been told he'd done in the school.
"Ya like this stuff?" Ranma asked as he looked at his friend's little sister, wondering just how one acted in such a situation.
He didn't have much to worry about, as she nodded swallowed the piece of cookie that she'd been chewing on. "Uh-huh. They're cool!"
"Glad ya agree. Everyone says so too."
"Really?"
"Yup. 'Course, my Pop's always sayin' that girls like dresses and dolls. I thought ya might too. But ya seem ta not need that stuff, and that's cool too."
She basked in the praise and let him come up in her considerations a notch. "Kei and I don't haveta be like dat."
"Good for ya. But ya two don't have ta do 'what'?"
Keiichi spoke up from where he'd been sitting. "Our Mom and Dad are always telling us to be how we want to. They don't want to make us work on boring stuff if we don't want to."
"Oh... That's great."
"I think so too. We get to do a lot of things other kids don't. But we still play a lot of games and stuff."
"Like what?" the pigtailed boy asked.
"Like... Softball. You said you liked it, right?"
"Uh-huh. I like playin' all kindsa sports. Softball's cool, 'cause ya get a big ball ta play with, and it's fun to have a game whenever."
At that moment, Megumi decided that this boy was the one that she'd be totally into. Not only was he big, strong and brave, but he liked softball! All that made for a very special guy, and she knew that she adored him.
Of course, Keiichi was still there, but she didn't feel this way about. He was a 'big brother', so he had to be wise, kind, and nice to all little sisters, but he had been protected, at least in part, but the boy he'd brought home. It was the sort of instance where lifelong bonds were made.
Ranma saw the odd glittering of her eyes, and was pleased that he'd made her happy, while:
