After some embarrassing discoveries Michiru and Haruka ended up waiting at the front of the shop near the magazine rack. It seemed safer than the depths of the store where further uncomfortable surprises might lurk.
Haruka was still mumbling something about ungrateful perverts under her breath.
"For somebody with so much loathing for the stuff you took a lot of time of studying that hentai Sailormoon art-book." Michiru commented.
Haruka did not dignify her accusation with a reply so Michiru needled on.
"It is not like you have never imagined some of the stuff in there yourself," she pointed out, "I know for a fact that you are a great fan of Sailormoon and consider her attractive."
There was little Haruka could say to defend herself without jeopardizing their secret identities. Haruka admired Usagi as a person not as an object like those people did. And she was only teasing their princess most of the time when she pretended to flirt with her. Besides the artist had gotten her completely wrong in the pictures. The distinctive hairstyle and whatever they had bothered to include of her jewelry and uniform had been right, but the rest did not really look like her at all.
Haruka got distracted from her musings by a man causing a commotion nearby.
"You don't understand," he spoke at the sales-assistant in a loud voice, "I need a new poster!"
"I am sorry, sir." The woman told him. "But we don't have much Sailor-V merchandise. She has not been active in some time and there hasn't been any demand. If you want I could try to order something, but I have to warn you that an authentic signed Sailor-V poster will be almost impossible to get a hold of."
"I can't wait for you to order it from somewhere else. I need it now. It is for my boss. She will return tomorrow and if I don't have her office back in exactly the condition it was before..."
"I am really sorry, sir." the sales-lady tried to console the man, but he was hardly listening.
"I order you to sell me a Sailor-V poster. I am going to confiscate one. I can do it I am with the police," he exclaimed in panic.
Now another sales-assistant had joined them and was politely telling the disturbed man that they did not have the item in stock while guiding him out the door.
"I did not mean to set it on fire." he whined, "It was an accident. This will be worse than the incident with the goldfish..."
Haruka exhaled as the obviously very unstable man left the store. Next to her a group of serious-looking woman also relaxed.
From their looks they had to be bodyguards of the little girl that was standing at the magazine rack. Hakuara guessed that rich people could have wired hobbies, too.
"Here you go miss the latest Magical Fashion, You were right it was already out we just hadn't gotten around to unpack it yet." Another sales-assistant said deferentially as he gave the young girl a magazine.
"Yes!" the girl exclaimed triumphantly, "The cute Mistress of the Clow wins another cover with her latest costume."
"She does appear on the cover a lot," The clerk agreed, "I wonder who keep sending in all those photos of her different costumes?"
But the girl did not hear him as she paid for her purchase and left the store without taking her nose out of the magazine.
Some of the fans sure could be strange Haruka concluded. Hopefully Hotaru would finish her shopping soon so that they could leave this place.
